A friendly advice I would give is to make way for such people (when he was about to hit your car while making the turn) as a self-defence act to protect *your* car from damage and yourself from the after-effects of such damage. You could have moved to the extreme left end and let him pass. Maybe you did the same, but the footage ended just before that point. Messing with such people is simple and clear waste of time, mental piece and, in some cases, money also. :)

Thanx :D (ur handle) for the advice. I was at the extreme left by the time I had stopped. And when this guy was turning around me, had I tried to move even further to the left, we would have made contact. If you notice, the 2 Maruti Dzires behind him were on the correct side of the road and they made their turns without any problems.
I kept my cool, the glass wound up, and gave him a expressionless stare as he passed by, controlling the urge to show him 'the bird' . :p

Good grief, I scream at bikers when they do this. Wrong side, and a blind turning. Actually, a biker, coming on his correct side, could easily have come to grief meeting this idiot here.

That guy is destined to plenty of dents and scratches. Unfortunately, he's going to cause them to others too.

I know that route well, and always approach its blind right-angle turns with caution, horn in the day, and headlight flash in the dark. I wouldn't like to live in one of those corner houses, as I would not advise anyone to take those blind corners without using the horn!

So this happened last weekend. The road in front of my apartment is a single lane road with buildings on both sides. Permanent residents of the house opposite to my apartment park their cars close to their walls and there will be room for just one car to pass through. So last Saturday afternoon my sister and niece were visiting and I had to go and pick them up from the main road where they got off the cab. So it was a kind of urgent situation to go and pick them up as I started when my sis informed me that they got off the cab. I took my truck out and was greeted with the sight of an Alto parked bang in front of one of my apartment gates and opposite to another resident's car so that there is space just for a bike to pass. There is another longer road to exit the complex but that too were blocked with bikes and the my Safari wont be able to make that sharp turn. And the so called security guard was busy playing cricket with kids in a neighbouring field. All these with my sis waiting for me pissed me off beyond extend. After blasting the horn for quite some time the owner dude shows up lazily and upon asked why he has parked on the road, the following were his responses:

- This is not a public road, why are you taking this road? (He was a guest and was not aware that I am residing in that very apartment that he has parked in front of)
- You should have taken the other (Longer) road
- You should not take a car through this road

While he was backing off his car I got a call from my sis saying that they walked all the way and are now reaching my place. My temper snapped at this point and I gave him an earful. But the dude's response made me realize that evolution is still a mystery! He was like "Oh you are blaming me now? I am trying to help you here". Whom should I blame for his car being parked in the most mindless and stupidest way? Narendra Modi??

It was one of those days I really wished that I had that heavy off road bumper which I have been planning for my truck!! :Frustrati

Had a terrible experience today that made me realize exactly what's up with Bangalore's traffic. Was driving down the service road right before the airport flyover to continue on to my house in Jakkur when ahead of me where there is a break right before the flyover (don't understand the need for this), an auto swung far left into my lane to overtake another auto joining the service road. I am rarely ever put in a situation where I find my skills lacking, so I calmly steered the car left to avoid him keeping in mind the exact location and speed at which traffic behind me was travelling. Did not feel the need to brake and hold up someone or risk getting rear ended by a car that I had just overtaken or even slow down to risk the auto coming further into my way. Auto guy drove up next to me at the signal and started telling me to drive slowly along with two other local nuts on a scooty. I got so pissed off by the fact that he cut into my lane and just because he doesn't have the skills to maneuver his vehicle or any other in the way that I did, is telling me like it's my fault. :Frustrati

I get this bad vibe from Bangalore traffic like they simply do not know the rules or think too highly of themselves to follow the rules. They will drive slowly in the fast lane even if you honk, cut left and right without looking in the mirror, swing out in front of you like they have got the right of way and then their solution is to demand that you ought to drive slowly (perhaps why there are such hideously large speedbreakers). So it is like drive unreasonably slowly no matter what the speed limit is or how good the roads are or which lane you're in, just so that I can do all these foolish things. Felt like getting out of my car right there and then and slapping him hard but my Mother was seated beside me so just took a deep breath and rolled up the window :deadhorse

Two incidents in two days for me.

1) Yesterday i was returning home via the Thane-Belapur road.Heavy traffic on the Kalwa bridge due to a broken down truck,hence the cops were diverting the traffic around the truck.I had to go into Thane city and hence wished to stay on the left lane,but got diverted by a cop to the right lane.After inching forward for a few minutes,saw an opportunity to switch lanes,hence switched on my turn indicators and started moving to the left.There was Verna about 10-15 meters behind and as soon as i started my maneuver, he stepped on the gas and closed the gap(honking and flashing continuously), i maneuvered deftly and switched lanes successfully.The Verna then starts tailgating me and after we descend the bridge undertakes me,comes to a screeching halt in front of me for 10 seconds and then zooms off rubbers' squealing. All this at a busy junction.I mean what were you trying to prove?

2) Today morning at the signal on N.Parekh marg near five gardens,Wadala. The signal is red and i am in the first row.An ANHC comes up from the rear and starts honking and flashing away to glory.(This is a short signal of maximum-30 seconds).I don't budge and he continues his shenanigans.After the signal turns green, overtakes me with barely millimeters to spare, gives me a long dirty look and zooms off. What mistake did i commit?
I have now decided to install a dashcam in my car. Also is there any provision to have a sort of 'boot' camera so that we can capture the antics of such drivers?My blood was boiling,but did not react visibly as it would probably have lead to provocation and road rage and that would have been a shameful reflection on me and all that this community stands for.

Happens a lot with us too. And it is beyond my comprehension as to why would anyone honk and flash in a traffic signal when the lights are red? As if the first row guys have come to the traffic signal for a picnic and won't move for the day stupid: or don't know that you are required to move when it turns green. Happens only in India I guess. Have not seen such idiotic maneuvers even in developing countries like Nepal, Thailand. Not sure what is the reason behind.

Incident 1 is a common scenario and it comes down to inborn mentality of not letting others in front of you. The second you switch on indicators to indicate a lane change, they speed up. What would then happen is what boggles the mind. You let them pass, change lanes to the right only to see the person in front move to the left lane and go straight ahead. So much tamasha.

Incident 2 again is proving to be very common these days. Forget red signals, even if you stop at the stop line people behind will honk asking your to move till the edge of the junction :deadhorse

Oh and you do get rear dashcams :)
