The Punch driver should have waited a bit, the kid on the bike should have been slower. Both parties in a hurry.

I would have killed him.
When seeing the video, I was mentally overtaking that bus from it's left and had totally missed the intersection, I actually caught my breath when the scooter guy crossed into the lane.

I don't overtake from the left, except when these heavy vehicles decide they want to hog the fast lane.

Will have to revisit and reframe my ground rules.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Recorded a minor accident that could have been deadly if the riders fell off in front of the bus.

The scooty rider crossed the road without checking the rear view mirror (I don't know how to identify this bad driver); minor hit, both vehicles lost balance, luckily all ended well.

The motorcycle riders crossed the road to catch the scooty rider. Don't know what happened next.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

This is near Devanahalli Toll, towards Bangalore.

Why do people change lanes at the last minute? Why don't they pick the lane in advance according to their destination or direction of travel ?

This looks like a sudden change of plan or realisation that they should go left, not right.

Let's imagine I'm there, and my passenger says, "No! It's the other way! ..."

With the traffic density seen in the video,I'd do what that guy did. If the road is busy and all the lanes are full, I'd take that right turn, planning a U-turn afterwards.

Mistakes happen.

Yes, Once when I'm coming from Marathahalli, i missed taking a left turn(purple) near the silk board towards the ECity as I'm on the right lane and traffic is heavy. I went straight and took a U turn near BTM circle and then came back and went left(green) to avoid causing congestion.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

This happened on ECity Flyover.
A couple on a bike, suddenly stopped and started getting down.

This shows the need of a separate bike lane or atleast a shoulder area on the flyover.

ECity Flyover and many other flyovers which are narrow without a separate bike lane or shoulder lane is very dangerous for bikers.

It would be good, if bikers are restricted on this flyover.

I honestly feel ECity flyover is not safe for bikers at all. I would never ride a bike on that flyover. Anyone riding the 2-wheeler on that flyover is taking a chance with their life. Apart from signals on the below road, you are not saving much time since bikers are anyways able to zig zag through the traffic and end up being in front on the signal anyways.

Not from our roads.

Driving on flooded roads.

Sad to see.

Thank goodness that VW driver didn't dislodge the dried leaf

British, I think. Apparently this place is famous, and has been made more so by TicToc.

Or, maybe, entirely by TicToc: Brits, in my experience, apart from the occasional idiot, did not consider this to be a way of spending a weekend!

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Are Renault Tribers aggressive? Triber is probably the most practical / cost effective / 4 star rated/ Automatic / 7 seater car in India. But one thing I've noticed on at least 3 occasions while driving around Tamil Nadu is their unnecessary aggression.

Some of the things I've noticed by Tribers (Triber drivers obviously)
1. Sneaking up too close from behind.
2. Weaving in and out constantly.
2. Flashing and demanding you to give way while you're doing a perfectly agreeable 90km/h.
3. An instance when a Triber guy who knew in advance where those damned yellow dividers were placed (I'm assuming he was a local) and tried to box me out for literally no reason. There was no traffic. Speeds were 80ish. 11Am. Perfect conditions.

Now this is a huge generalization on my part by putting all Triber drivers together but its just something that has stood out. When a Fortuner or Force Tempo Traveller does this you kind of expect it and give them way and move on, but when the tiny Triber does it, its just bizarre. Also the Triber with its 1.0 liter NA petrol was supposed to be underpowered. Hmmm.

And the vehicles were loaded to the brim with passengers on all occasions. Definitely all 3 rows occupied.

So what is it? Is the Triber secretly overpowered ? Or is it the stance and vantage point of the driver that gives them confidence ? Just curious.
