Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Its the same with me in the building. The car next to mine is always parked too close, on the line or at an angle. The worst part is neither the husband, wife nor driver can park properly ! All bad at parking. Also, I cant prove it but due to the lack of space when they open their doors it sometimes hits my car causing a few minor dings.
The whole family is the typical nouveau riche types. Well to do but no class. I was going to add more stuff but since it doesnt have to do with cars, I have erased it out.

Interestingly, I find far more numbers of decently driven cabs and buses, who do not turn on hazards when it rains, than private cars.

Oh god don't even get me started about driving in Bangalore during rains You're right; almost everyone puts on their hazard lights and engages high beam. Worst of all, they will all arrange themselves neatly on the road and travel at the same pace in the right lane as others are in the slow lane. 90% of drivers will fear going above 50 even on large highways. You will find yourself stuck in a jam somewhere fearing water logging and treacherous terrain ahead, only to finally realise after the agonizing wait, that it was because of some bikers who decided to set up camp under a bridge or underpass like as if they wont have to have a shower when they get home anyway

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

For whatever reason, someone parked their car and blocked my exit. This is right next to Hulimavu Police Station. When I showed this to few cops there, they said it comes under Gottigere Traffic jurisdiction

Is this 'perpendicular' parking?

Last month, I took a cab ride and was commenting about the guy ahead who switched on hazard lights while going straight, to my driver. And he responded without a doubt - that means the guy might turn left or right. That's his choice. He has signalled that and its upto fellow motorists to watch out and keep clear!!!

Then I tried telling him its "hazard" light and the purpose. He nodded but I'm sure he thought that

God save us!

Yes there is lot of confusion regarding the hazard lights among many people. Add to that overtaking signal by truck drivers.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

I don't know if the following scenario makes me a bad driver or the guy I was tailing.

So for people familiar with OMR, Chennai. I take this road adjacent to Apollo Multi Specialty to reach Tidel Park. This road contains numerous breaks in between and there are always people making a bee line to take right, left, u or w turns.

The guy I was tailing today, a white Dzire ZDI AMT (I know this, cause I was thinking to myself a AMT variant in ZDI is news to me). This guy in an already crawling traffic scenario was much slower that the average pace on the road. He was stopping at every intersection (the opening on those medians) to let cars go by though they were far away from making that turn or he'd crawl so slow he'd just stop at the sight of a car. Once the traffic clears he would drive like a pro and move with no hesitation. I observed this couple of times and honked at him to move on quickly as he was holding just as many cars as he was letting go across.

I overtook him, stared to see if was from another continent or may be planet but all looked well. No scene made but eventually it got me thinking. Was I bad driver for honking at him or was this guy a bad driver for holding up the traffic behind him when he could've easily passed through and the oncoming traffic could come in when the traffic thinned.

This has happened many time with me. Someone parks over the line and you are also forced to do so. Last I had done a similar parking, and was curiously going through the pictures if my vehicle is around here

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Came upon a strange sight on Saturday night in Baner Pune. There was no number at all at the rear of the car, surely this is not legal?

And do not worry, thats the home minister clicking the photo from the passenger side after multiple requests

I guess he did the right thing in letting others cross over. For a person waiting to cross, guys like this are a godsend No one hardly lets others whether on car or on foot cross roads. Remember what goes around comes around

Meanwhile, my situation for the experts judgement: Dark rainy night and this happens:

The fiesta turned right onto the main road without indicators and not even waiting to see for traffic. I believe he should have stopped looked both sides and then taken the turn. At least that's what i would have done.

One way what's that?

Why do people disobey one way rules? It's one of the most dangerous things to do on road. Even if it's midnight the rule does not change. To save a few minutes this father takes his daughter home after tuition and decides to risk lives for just a few minutes. Time is money but all the money will not save you from accidents.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

An incident that happened just last night,

At Marine lines at around 12'ish, Very very light traffic, A guy in a swift dzire ahead of me, Driving at around 60 -70 kph, He suddenly decides to brake hard, There were a couple of car's behind me and one in the next lane at my blind spot, So i could not change lanes and the roads being a little wet i just hoped my car would stop on time.

Jetta's brake at it again! ABS didn't even kick in and the car stopped just a feet away from dzire's bumper! Thankfully there was a good amount of distance between the car's behind me so even they could stop on time, The stupid guy halted in the fast lane with no indicators for more then 30 seconds (I was honking throughout, Sorry nearby resident's) And suddenly he takes a 90 degree turn to enter a petrol pump! I was just out of words...Really.

bblost, I respect a Thar owner. So we give him the 'benefit of doubt' ?
This was taken a few days later. The Thar owner seems to be getting better at parking.

Our man knows that the maximum he will have to pay is Rs 100, so might as well do it again and park at his convenience. The fine should be hiked significant for repeated offenders, so the next time they think twice.

Saw this biker using a cyclist's helmet. Helps to beat the Chennai heat.
Helmet ? CHECK
ISI mark ? CHECK
