Any publicity is good publicity to management people.

Honestly, 90% of people who buy Thar today don't intend to off-road. It's just a style statement. Videos like these will become another bragging point for them.

I saw this video on you tube, of a guy who is a youtuber, with very little common sense. He takes delivery of a Thar, and does some kind of off roading, where he ends up flipping his car. I think it’s a deliberate act to get brownie points for his channel. This video has gone viral, I think, so he did get what he wanted. God help him.

Technically sparky@home, you had the obstacle (tempo) in your lane while the XC90 had the right of his lane. IMO he's not the wrong driver in this video. And he had the grace to slow down and stop for you to pass.

The Thar one is done by an experienced offroader. He allowed for the expected drift so that he comes out exactly where the road is on the other side. This is very common in offroad events, where every vehicle expected to do it. I have personally done it few times. If you visit the 4x4 excursions section of TBHP, you will see plenty of such mind bending feats. It is very safe, injuries are very rare since everything happens at slow speeds.

Mahindra has an offroad academy in Igatpuri (Nasik) where they teach this stuff. The chief instructors at that academy are also Team-BHPians.

It all depends one’s perspective, if I were in his shoes, I would have allowed the vehicle already in the process of overtaking, the right of way. There was no need to have an ego clash. He was at a decent distance for giving me the right of way, and when I saw that he had no such intention, I stopped for him to do whatever he had to.

Is it too much of a hassle to flip the indicators to show their intention to change lane or make a turn? Such drivers a a big nuisance.
There is one other category of drivers who are worse (but predictable). The ones who fold their ORVMs while driving. Particularly the LHS ORVM. You just KNOW they won't look at it even if it were open. And you know they can make a left turn/lane change at any instant (hence making them predictable). Curiously, most such drivers in Bangalore can be found driving an M800 or Alto.
