Quite an insight into the urban, rural traffic scene and life in China and of course the driver behaviors. What surprises me is that the way the drivers/pedestrians react (or no reaction, as per Indian standards ) after the incident.

This is really fun, cant stop watching

Train rams into truck ferrying Ferrari and other exotic cars. The 18-wheeler truck was reportedly carrying a number of exotic cars when it got stuck while crossing rail tracks. An oncoming train was unable to halt in time and hit the truck.

Re: International Road Accidents

YouTube video. I did not see that coming. How to avoid things like this? May be slower speeds will help. I was able to spot the problem only after watching it 3-4 times.

Somehow the time trim is not working. Please watch from 1:34.

The Super rich are not having a good time ! Recently a SSC Tuatara, Lamborghini Urus and a rare Ferrari F40 were all damaged across various parts of the globe.

The world record-holding SSC Tuatara has been badly damaged after a truck carrying it crashed in Utah.

The car was on its way to Florida in pursuit of another top speed world record. Unfortunately, the truck carrying the car was hit by high winds on Interstate 15 near Salt Lake City, flipping over and causing extensive damage to both the truck and the car.

Local media reports that the Italian SUV caught fire on National Freeway 1 on April 27. It is claimed that the driver quickly pulled over after first noticing the flames and while a nearby tow-truck driver attempted to control the inferno with a fire extinguisher, their attempts were futile and before long, the Lamborghini was engulfed in flames.

Speaking with SENT News, the 29-year-old owner of the Urus said he had owned it for eight months and had no idea what triggered the blaze.

A rare Ferrari F40 has been destroyed by an inferno in Japan.

The Italian supercar was being driven along the country’s famous Hakone Turnpike on Saturday, May 8 when the couple inside the car noticed smoke seeping from the engine bay, prompting them to pull over. Soon after, the F40 caught fire.

Ferrari only ever produced 1,315 examples of the F40 and sadly, there is now one less on the roads. Fortunately, neither the driver nor the passenger were injured in the blaze.

Re: International Road Accidents

A 2021 Jeep Wrangler’s 3.6-liter V6 engine apparently tried revving to eight times its redline after the owner left the vehicle’s transfer case in low-range while flat-towing, The Drive reports. The resulting stresses tore the engine apart, yielding a scene that looks as if it might have been caused by a grenade.

Yes, that is a single car that crashed into a tree in Kansas. The car is clearly torn into two as if it was cut by a pair of scissors.

Quote:
A single-car crash in Kansas this weekend has provided one of the most horrifying accident images of the year, which you can see in the screenshot heading up this story. What you’re seeing isn’t two cars. That is a single vehicle that was rent apart so violently it shaved off half of the machine.

The crash was reported near 55th Street and Shawnee Mission Parkway in Fairway, Kansas. It was called in sometime around three in the morning, resulting in the road being shut down until just before eight local time while authorities cleaned up the crash and investigated the accident.

Right now, the sheriff’s office has reported to FOX 4 KC that it appears the driver was simply going too fast and collided with a tree. That resulted in the split down the middle that we can see in the photographs above. The accident was obviously fatal for the driver, who is currently the only reported person in the car. That person has not been identified.

The condition of the driver has also not been released, so it is unclear if they were under the influence, tired, ill, or simply driving too fast. The crash is still under investigation.

That must have been some tree!

But tree or pole versus car never ends well for the car, and it seems like many such accidents involve fatalities. But not, usually, a car sliced in two

Re: International Road Accidents

This was a very strange accident which happened few weeks ago in Utrecht, Netherlands. The learner driver made a corner and stepped accidentally on the accelerator instead of brake pedal. Too much torque of an Electric car (a VW ID3 in this case)and a learner seems to be a bad combo after all. The curb and the fixed curbside bicycle rack/barricade seems to have acted as a ramp.

I like the way autoblog.nl narrated this accident Here it is translated literally from Dutch : source.

Quote:
This is not a Hollywood stunt, this is a Volkswagen ID.3 training car in a street in Utrecht. That was not quite the intention.

Driving lessons can be quite exciting, especially in the beginning. If all goes well, there will be an instructor sitting next to you who will put you at ease. With a manual car it takes some getting used to, if you have an automatic it should be a bit easier. All the greater are the question marks about this strikingly parked Volkswagen ID.3 training car.

The driving instructor will not have asked whether the student could park the electric car on top of the Opel. The incident took place in Utrecht at around 7:30 PM yesterday evening. The aspiring motorist accidentally stepped on the power pedal. The fact that an electric car immediately has all the torque available does not help either. Even before the driving instructor could intervene, the damage was done.

Volkswagen ID.3 training car
The damage to the ID.3 seems not too bad. We cannot say the same of the Opel. The weight of the Volkswagen (1,794 kg roadworthy) feels like a small elephant has sat on a car. Afterwards, the student appeared to want to brake, but the other pedal was pressed instead. This could have ended much worse in that regard.

No one was injured in the accident. Both cars are salvaged. The driving instructor may book some additional driving lessons with the student.

Re: International Road Accidents

It does make one wonder. In the Netherlands learner cars have to have dual brake control. So somehow the instructor could not pull on the steering wheel and or brake?

I too wondered about it. Looks like ANWB (comparable to German ADAC and British AA) uses Peheja dual controls system for the instructor's brake control. Something like this below. But, being an EV driver myself, I have my doubts not on the system, but on the instructor. The torque is so instantaneous and probably by the time the instructor reacted, the ID3 is already airborne/on top of the cabriolet.

Sharing a video of road accidents in Russia. The title of the production is apt.

Toyota Camry flies & topples; driver miraculously survives

A shocking car accident in Yuba City, California, USA has been caught on video, showing a Toyota Camry flying through the air, before slamming to the ground in front of an oncoming truck.

International Road Accidents-toyotacamryflies1.jpg

As seen from the truck's dashcam video, the Toyota Camry loses control, launches off an embankment, flies through the air, and topples over multiple times, before coming to a halt roof down in front of an oncoming truck.

The truck wasn't speeding and was hence able to stop in its track a few feet away. Also, the Toyota Camry managed to squeeze past a couple of electrical power lines, without touching them. The video shows the truck driver immediately call 911 and run over to rescue the Camry driver.

Judging by the video, the person driving the Toyota Camry did seem to be doing high speeds, before losing control of the car. Fortunately, however, the driver is said to have miraculously survived the horrific accident, suffering only minor injuries in the process.

Re: Toyota Camry flies & topples; driver miraculously survives

Thank goodness, no one is seriously injured.

Was the driver trying to do a 2 lane grasshopper stunt (as in Need for speed movie)?
But on serious note, these embankments should be considered for a re-study and re-design change to avoid such incidents.

Re: Toyota Camry flies & topples; driver miraculously survives

I have a query for such accidents (assuming we witness the accident)
1. Is it safe to approach the vehicle to see if we can assist in any way or can sometimes it blow up making it risky?
2. If the passenger is trapped in a upside down position, should we try to cut the seat belt or is it possible we might be hurting the passenger by moving him?
