A Major Accident Close To Salalah, No Loss Of Life

I am attaching pictures of an accident that took place about 20 kms before Salalah, Oman, in 2005. The incident happened when a trailer carrying Nissan vehicles was coming downhill, the brakes of the tractor trailer failed. The driver, in order to save his life, hit the road divider, broke it and came on the opposite side of the road. The trailer broke free and slide down the road and hit a petrol tanker. All snaps have been clicked by myself. Pictures 1 to 11 are at the accident site, rest at the police accident parking yard.

Re: International Road Accidents

As one can observe, a petrol tanker was coming uphill onto which the trailer collided (which was sliding downhill). The petrol tanker was loaded, God's grace it did not explode. The tanker driver saw the trailer sliding towards his vehicle, he stopped it, applied the emergency brakes, jumped out of his cabin and ran to a safe place. When i reached the spot (which was about half an hour after the incident), there was a weird smell of diesel and oil all around.

Re: International Road Accidents

It was by a sheer stroke of luck, that there were no major injuries, though all the new vehicles were written off. The tractor trailer was back on the road after about an year

The date on the footage indicates as 17th January, 2017!

Shocking video clip. Can't imagine what must have happened to the people in the house in which the truck finally slammed into.

Any other details?

Is it even possible for one of our trucks to be doing what looks to be higher 100s?

Crazy velocity. Wonder what the cause could be, and why the brakes weren't coming into play.

That said, for some reason I feel like this is out of India (despite the Polo and other elements).

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

Here is the video of same incident from China, look at the speed with which the truck is approaching. Maybe he gained a bit too much of momentum to control, or maybe he just came down from a long slope and met the traffic ahead. Any ways, R.I.P.

Re: International Road Accidents

A car got crushed against the wall by a trailer truck in one of the expressway tunnels here, and the driver escaped with a minor cut - quite a miracle, looking at the car's condition. I think its a previous gen Corolla Altis.

Amazing luck in surviving not only the impact with the house but also just missing that black car AND the bus!
