First..this is my personal opinion and i think i have to express it and still as i said the choice is yours.

Since its a govt. car technically it should be maintained as an *** or other designated well equipped ***.

The point i am trying to make is that such incidents are more frequent with TATA than any other car manufacturer which is what makes it a strict no no for me period.

I have myself seen a ford Icon burning on the road.

There used to be numerous reports of Cielos and Opel Astras buring during the time I used to own a Cielo.

We do not know the real reason behind the fire. This particular car is an old Indigo not the new CS/e-CS.

Well, I'd a different thought; Tata's are selling more in number than before; Tata cars are being meddled by too much of people due to poor T.A.S.S; more people are learning to work with the Tata cars.

There are numerous instances of honda city's catching fire. You can find some threads related to that on this forum only. I see you drive one. Now would you stop using your honda city. I hope you answer this.

It was a police car of the ADGP. One thing i didn't understand in the report was that "government vehicles were not insured". Can someone explain why?

Its a orange beacon car so it would belng to the police force, normally given to ACP/DCP of the area. These kind of cars are normally not always maintained at A**, know this because even my family used to have a Govt. car which was maintained at Govt Authorized Workshops. These workshops used to be authorised service stations but not necessarily of the same brand. Thus it would be wrong to solely point a finger at Tata Motors. A lot of electricals are modified outside the showrooms for fitting of beacon light, fans (dont be surprised), wireless unit, additionals horns & whatever the person desires. These things if wrongly installed &/or maintained can become an instant fire hazard.

OT:
May be because they can save cost by paying less premium on a 'Third Party (TP)' cover Vs a Comprehensive Cover. After all, how many Govt Vehicles do get stolen or banged up?

My friend's tata indica caught fire 2 years back. It was a narrow escape for him. But, when I talked to him personally, he told me that he had fitted an additional powerful horn few days before the accident. The poor quality of work by outside electrical workshops could be one reason for these incidents..

I saw this Honda on fire earlier at about 8 pm tonite on the way back home at Powai. Quite a scary site even though it was on the other half of the road. Traffic however passed it as if it were a normal thing. The fire tender was on its way when I passed ahead.

Was it an ANHC? It looks like the older version.

It looks like the Gen 3 City (before face-lifted City ZX version).

Any clue as to why something like this could've happened?
