Pointless to go into messy Jabalpur town, better to take the bypass.

Between Nagpur & Hyderabad, best is to stay at Adilabad (Hotel Ravi Teja).

YOu do not pass Warangal on the way, as you have written above.
Thanks hvkumar,

Does the below plan look fine?

Day 1: Varanasi to Seoni (~580km)
Day 2: Seoni to Adilabad (~323km)
Day 3: Adilabad to Hyderabad (~296km)

I am not sure if they would be comfortable in travelling 580 km in one day. That's a good distance to cover, especially given the road condition between VNS to Jabalpur. Also, there will be only one person driving the whole distance. Any suggestions?

Keep the plan open depending on how fast you cover the Day 1. Roads are pretty bad. Even after Nagpur, roads are bad

hmm. Then plan B would be

Day 1: Varanasi to Jabalpur (this should be achievable atleast) in case they are reaching Jabalpur in the evening

Day 2: Jabalpur to Adilabad

Day 3: Adilabad to Hyderabad

How about the security situations. Are the roads safe to drive till say 7-8PM?

Also, kindly suggest a budget hotel/lodge in Jabalpur as well (in case they decide to stay in Jabalpur itself).

There is no safety issue on this highway. It is also choked with trucks 24x7.
You can also check out MPTDC in Jabalpur.

Hi hvkumar.

My inlaws are on the way to Hyderabad. They took rest in Seoni yesterday. At present, they are in Nagpur city. Today, they are targeting to travel around 400-450 km and so that the distance to travel tomorrow can be only 100-150 or max 200 km. What would be the place you recommend. Since Adilabad is 300 km from Hyd, they would most probably cross it. Any dhaba/motel/lodge/hotel info would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Present Road condition of NH7: Really really bad in UP and MP. Some parts between Maihar to Jabalpur don't even have road and they felt as if they were going through villiage road and not on national highway (btw NH7 is india's longest national highway ). One of the tyres was found punctured today in the morning @Seoni. They are at present searching for a good shop on NH7 (Nagpur) to get it fixed. Road condition has improved slightly in MH.

Why not target Hyderabad itself today - not difficult.
Apart from Adilabad, you can also check out Hotel Sri Krishna at Nirmal.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. Reaching Hyd today itself is a good idea. However, it's still 500 km to travel, plus one tyre punctured. They are little scared of the road conditions (travelling in Indigo CS GLX). Any tips on Nagpur - Hyderabad road? Also, any other place to stay if at all they decide to cross Nimal as well (since it is still 218km from hyderabad).

Roads will be bad in MH south of Nagpur till you reach AP border.
From Nirmal onwards, the 4-laned road will take you very quickly to Hyderabad.
There may be hotels in Nizamabad after Nirmal too - I have seen a couple of them on NH7 too, but can think of no specific names.

Thanks hvk sir for the help. They reached home safely. Nagpur - Hyd stretch was really a lot better comparing to the rest.

Journey break-up:
Day 1; Varanasi - Rewa
Day 2: Rewa - Seoni
Day 3: Seoni - Hyderabad

Traffic police charged 100 at Punjagutta for taking restricted right turn unknowingly though .

Re: Route : Jaunpur to Hyderabad

I would be doing Patna - Mohania - Varanasi - Katni - Jabalpur - Nagpur. Earlier I was targeting Nagpur from Patna in a day. But after reading the road condition in this thread, looks like Jabalpur is also tough from Patna.

With such road condition I think in one day 500 Kms max one can drive.

Re: Route : Jaunpur to Hyderabad

One year since the thread is in place...

Any further update on the Rewa - Allahabad section? Is the remaining 10 kms relaid now? And is there any hope on the Rewa - Jabalpur section in the near future?

In the alternative route, is the Kanpur - Orai section still bad, if one wants to move from Kanpur to Jhansi?

Vipin.

Even Orai bypass is complete now, road is good, preferred.

Thanks a lot MR. hvkumar sir! This is great news! So one can easily traverse the Kanpur-Jhansi route now.

A few more queries:

a) Arriving from Lucknow side, does one have to take the NH2 bypass at Kanpur for sometime and then take the left turn for Kanpur-Jhansi highway?

b) Places for food-halt enroute?

c) What about the Jhansi-Lakhnadon section? Is it four-lane with dividers and in manageable/drive-able condition? How many hours can it potentially take to cover this distance? My query is particularly whether one can cover the distance from Lucknow to Lakhnadon in about 12-15 hours, staring the journey at 6/6.30 am in order to reach Lakhnadon at around 8/9pm. And whether there are places for night stay for family at Lakhnadon...

Ideally, take the Kanpur bypass on NH25, get to Ramadevi Chowk & get onto the Kanpur elevated bypass on NH2. You have to go on NH2 towards Agra for some 25 kms till PUkharayan Crossing, where you tuen off towards Jhansi.

Very poor, am afraid . But in Jhansi city, you have Hotel Sita which is good.

Jhansi-Laknadon sector is being widened, not yet complete. Sme sectors like Babina-Lalitpur-Sagar are complete, fantastic, but Sagar bypass and Sagar-Narasingpur-Laknadon are incomplete, and the detours where bridges are under construction, can be very difficult.

It should take at least 12 hours+ to do Lucknow-Laknadon. There are no places to stay in Laknadon, you have to go on to Seoni.

Indeed very useful information. I know, climbing the sides of the detours where bridges are under construction can be an ordeal. I had to do it in 4 to 5 places on NH 33 between Barhi and Hazaribag in Jharkhand, soon after crossing Barhi town.

Is there an option of reaching Sagar and then taking the route to Jabalpur to be on NH 7? Is Jabalpur - Nagpur a four-lanes road?

Vipin.
