Is Pirotan open now? Hotel President makes all the arrangements - there is a guy there called Mushtaq who arranges permits and is the guide too.

I seriously and sincerely suggest that you should not miss out on Adalaj nu vav. It's anyways falls on your route from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar. It's a marvel of a place. And if you like to snap away, this place will not leave you disappointed.

Still not clear yet. Its closed down as of now. I have spoken to Musthtaq. He is enquiring about it. If pirotan is closed, we plan a Coral walk around Narara, its around 60 kms from Jamnagar. Do you know how to track the tide timing ONLINE.

Mushtaq is the best guy to tell you all.
Normally, low tide is after 1130 am at Narara, so ideally, you leave Jamnagar by 9 am and reach Narara island by 1030-11.
No idea abut Pirotan, which is a full day boat tour

re: Discovering Gujarat : Help required for route and accommodation

Back yesterday night after 3500 kms Gujarat (Saurashtra region) trip. Cities covered Ahmadabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Narara, Dwarka, Bet dwarka, Porbandar, Somnath, Veraval, Gir, Junagadh morbi and Udaipur.

Didnt know there is so much to see around in Gujarat.

The final itinerary was as follows

Day 1 - Delhi - Ahmadabad - 4.30am start and Ahmadabad - 0600 pm. 1 stop after Bhilwara.

Day-2 Ahmadabad and around.

Day-3 Ahmadabad - Narara marine wild life sanctuary, Dwarka (Started 5 am were there at narara by 10 am)

Day-4 Bet dwarka, Nageshwar Jyotirling, Rukmini devi temple, porbandar, Gir

Day - 6 Devalia, Gir Interpretation Zone, Junagadh, Rajkot, Morbi

Road condition :

Delhi - Jaipur - Good shape

Jaipur -via- Bhilwara(nh 76) Udaipur - Very good

Udaipur - Ahmd - OK, some bad patches after Ranakpur.

Ahmd - Rajkot - Good

Rajkot - Jamnagar - Toll road being constructed, diversions, but still drive fast.

Jamnagar - Dwarka - Good

Dwarka - Porbandar - Bad (Big pot holes)

Porbandar - Gir - We took NH 8B, Went through village roads after kutiana , there is a check post and flyover. Roads were bad, some places non existant, some places it was very good. Finally we hit NH 8d, just before Keshod. From Keshod - Mendarda - Gir.
This is the only section which has bad roads.

Gir - Morbi - Good roads

Morbi - Udaipur - Via samakhayali, radhanpur, palanpur, abu road - Best road. Covered 530 kms in just 7 hrs.

I am planning a similar trip and needed advice for Marine National Park. The itinerary is

Day 1- Gurgaon - Jaipur-Ajmer (or till wherever we reach)
Day2 - Ajmer - Ahmedabad (rani ka vav and Modhera sun temple on the way)
Day 3 - Ahmedabad
Day 4 - Ahmedabad
Day 5 - Ahmedabad - Dwarka
Here is where i need advice - can i fit in Marine National Park and the trip to Pirotan Island while en route to Dwarka, or do i have to stay one night in Jamnagar. Accordingly i will either stay 3 nights or 2 nights in Ahmedabad.
Also - i have heard a lot about birding there, does it make sense to stay there also for birding?

Also - can you please share the details of the person who does the permits and logistics for Marine National PArk and Pirotan Island.

DAy 6 - Dwarka to Gir (doing this for the costal road till Porbander) - how is the road? Anyone has any ideas?

DAy 7, Day 8 - Gir
Day 9 - Gir to Mount Abu
DAy 10 - back to Gurgaon.

Please let me know if this is feasible?
Interesting things to see?
Birding sites? - Heard a lot about birding in Gujarat. Will appreciate a lot if someone helped with details
Road conditions?

Any other advice

Thanks

Not possible in a single day. Suggest you stay over at Jamnagar and cut short a night in Ahmedabad.

Dwarka to Porbandar should be fine with a few deviations due to 4 laning work in progress.

Porbandar Gir through Vanthli is good. Few kms before reaching Gir, roads are typical single lane forest roads which might take some extra time.

Its called the coastal highway. But apart from a few places you can hardly see the sea. But yes, you would be driving along the sea.

There are three bird Sanctuaries on your route.
  1. Thol Bird Sanctuary (25km from Ahmedabad)
  2. Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary (55 Km from Ahmedabad)
The above two can be visited by keeping the base at Ahmedabad. A half-day visit to these places is sufficient. However, It's advisable to start before Sunrise for better spotting.

3. Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary (12km From Jamnagar)
