Team-BHP - NH4A or SH34 (to reach Castle Rock)

Hi,

I am planning for Dudh Sagar trek. This the route - Blore-Hubli-Dharwad to Castle rock.

From Dharwad I am not sure which route to take to reach Castle Rock.
Rt 1: From Dharwad take SH 34 - reach RamNagar join with NH4A and reach Castle Rock.

Rt 2: From Dharwad take NH 4A - reach Belgaum join with NH4A and reach Castle Rock.

Please let me know which is better.

One option which I think is more frequented is:

Dharwad-Haliyal-Dandeli-Joida-Ganeshgudi-Castle rock.
(Or Ganeshgudi-Ramnagar-Anmod-Castle rock)
(Others please correct if I am wrong)

I dont think SH34 would be a good idea.
And also no point going all the way up to Belgaum to latch on to NH4A.

Dont know how is it today. The news was dated June.

This is the only thread I could find with "Castle Rock" in the title, hence bumping it up :)

I am driving from Goa (Margao) to Ganeshgudi and intend to visit Castle Rock station just for the heck of it... well, actually the name has fascinated me for years now and have been wanting to see it once :D

So as I understand, there are 2 options I have:

a) Move off NH-4A, visit the station, come back to NH-4A and drive to Ganeshgudi via Ramnagar

b) There seems to be a road from Castle Rock station which joins SH-34 about 6-7 km before Ganeshgudi

Option (a) is a no-brainer but wanted to check if anyone has tried/know about option (b).

Its an interior road. Expect it to be quite broken and desolate.

My apologies for not updating this thread! I did enquire about option "b" at Castle Rock station and was advised against taking that route given that it is supposed to have a couple of VERY narrow stretches, including a narrow bridge, and I was told that there is no way my Safari would be able to make it through. Given this, I ended up driving back to NH4A and go to Ganeshgudi via Ramnagar. This was corroborated by folks at Ganeshgudi as well. However, I would be tempted to do it sometime on a bike or a small 4x4 :D
