6)Is pune to gokarna or pune to jog falls can be
covered in 1 day ? Do i need to take halt in between ?
I will not do any night driving .
Please suggest best route and places to visit in 5 days

7)I did not done any prior booking , is it OK ? Can i directly
walk-in and will get accommodation ? or is it a peak period ?

Pune-Kolhapur-Hubli(via nh4)-take right onto NH63 at hubli-Ankola-Gokarna

Can easily be covered in 5days.Pune-Gokarna and Pune-Jog can easily be done in a day's drive. No need of any stopovers.

Ranjit already answered this. NH4/NH63/NH17 (Pune-Hubli-Ankola-Gokarna)

NH17/NH206
Gokarna-Honnavar-Sagar-Jog. No about the volume of water today.

I think plan should be: Pune-Gokarna-Murdeshwar-Jog-Pune
If you stay overnight at Gokarna, then the next day cross Honnavar and drive till Murdeshwar. Visit the temple and come to Honnavar (Its just 20km) and drive through NH206 to Sagar/Jog. On the way back from Jog, take the route through Sirsi-Yellapur to hit NH63 and continue the way back to Hublic and Pune there on.

Should be possible 2 days to drive and 3 days to Visit.
Day 1 : Reach Gokarna. (A bit of a stretch but should be possible with 4L till Hubli)
Day 2: Gokarna-Murdeshwar-Jog (Halt)
Day 3 : Jog/Sirsi/Yellapur-Hubli (Halt/Buffer)
Day 4 : --
Day 5 : Hubli-Pune

Maybe you can also drive till Hubli on Day 1.

Explained prior. If you have 5 days you can divide till Hubli on Day 1.
So you can re-work it to:
Day 1 : Pune - Hubli (Halt)
Day 2: Hubli-Gokarna (Halt)
Day 3: Gokarna-Murdeshwar-Jog (Halt)
Day 4 : Jog/Sirsi/Yellapur-Hubli (Halt)
Day 5 : Hubli-Pune

You can book at least for Gokarna and hotel in Sagar. I think Hubli should be fine.

Re: Pune - Gokarna - Murudeshwar driving directions

Hey!
I'm planning a trip, and I need some inputs to finalise my plan. Here is what I have in mind.
Route: Pune-Gokarna-Dandeli-Doodhsagar falls-Pune

Day 0: Leave Pune by 2 PM, reach Gokarna by midnight
Day 1: Chill at Gokarna, visit Yana and reach Dandeli by evening
Day 2: Relax at Dandeli - full day
Day 3: Leave Dandeli early morning, reach Doodhsagar falls. Finish sightseeing etc and leave for Pune. Stop en route somewhere near Sawantwadi
Day 4: Sawantwadi to Pune

Q1)Is Day 0 plan feasible? We plan to take the Pune-Dharwad-Yellapur-Ankola route. We will try and reach Dharwad by 8 PM. Is it safe to travel on NH63 at night so that we can reach Gokarna by 11PM, or at max by midnight? We are meeting friends there who will be coming from Bangalore, so we want to reach on Day 0 itself so as not to spoil the next day's plan. Does this seem like a stretch?

Q2)I wanted info on what is worth visiting near Dandeli, but I aleady got that thanks to Viper, karthikpai and mahesh Has anyone been to Yana? Is it worth a visit?

Q3) On the return from Sawantwadi to Pune, we would want to come through some Konkan territory. Anyone know the current condition of NH17(new NH66) between Goa and Mumbai? Also, which would be a good ghat to get back onto the NH4, somewhere after Ratnagiri?

Any other comments/suggestions are also very welcome.

Thanks!

Re: Pune - Gokarna - Murudeshwar driving directions

Bumping this thread up after almost a decade.

Going Pune to Gokarna. Drive Kolhapur onwards will be in daytime. Car is Duster.

Google Maps shows turn off from NH48 at Kittur towards Alnavar >> Haliyal >> Yellapur.

Any road condition observations? (since monsoon wreaks havoc on roads that are less travelled.)

I have one option to head to Hubballi on NH48 and then head to Yellapur on SH52. All directions based on Google Maps.

Any suggestions? Recommendations? All advice welcome.

I had travelled this route during end of June when monsoon were not in full swing. The route passes through reserve forest and very scenic but the roads were patchy. I will recommend travel only in daytime as hardly any traffic in day time. Hubballi Yellapur is quite good but if you want to enjoy dense forest then go vis Alnavar route.

Re: Pune - Gokarna - Murudeshwar driving directions

Took the Pune > Hubballi > Yellapur > Gokarna route on October 10, 2022. Car was Duster.

Mostly decent roads, but section between Yellapur and Gokarna on SH 52 has some monsoon damage post Arabail Ghat. There are large ruts in the road where water flowed downhill. While the road is mostly comfortable and motorable , these sections need care.

I turned off the Yellapur-Karwar road on to SH143 and again this road is ok for SUVs, but lower clearance cars need to take care. Travel time from Hubballi to Gokarna temple was about 5-hours but that was because of the Duster, that allows me to ride over many a pothole and rut without slowing down.

Return was via Goa, so that is a story for another day.

Pune - Anuskura Ghat- NH66- Gokarna. Anuskura Ghat is a well laid scenic route and you won't have any troubles.
