Re: Planning a sudden trip to South Tamil Nadu?

Thanks One and All for all the inputs!

I just completed my trip to South Tamil. It was total of around 8 days and really had a great time. I did my engg in Chennai, but never ever ventured to other places other than Pondy and Mahabs in TamilNadu. I am glad i did it now. Spell bound by the beauty and majesty of Temples and beauty of the beaches during this time of the year. Parents extremely happy.

This is what i am talking abt:

This pic was totally in dark. At ISO 6400 i was getting good amount of disturbance in the pic. Pro's out there please help if it can be made any better and pics loosing details while compressing. Any better software for reducing the size of the pic with out effecting the clarity??

Re: Planning a sudden trip to South Tamil Nadu?

Hi Amp,

As suggested i planned to travel Hyd--> (via blore)Tiruchy-->Tanjavur-->Rammeshwaram-->Kanyakumari-->Trivandrum-->Madurai-->Hyd

But you know dads right . On the D day he decides to see Vellore, Pallani and Pallayairpatti.

So the final plan was like this:

Day1: Hyd-->Vellore(Halt)
Day2: Vellore-->Tanjavur--Srirangam(Halt)
Day3:Srirangam-->Rockfort temple,Tirichy-->Pllayarpatti-->>Rameshwaram(halt)
Day4:Rameshwaram-->Danushkodi-->(via ECR tuticoron)Kanyakumari(Halt)
Day5:Kanyakumari-->Trivandrum-->Kanyakumari(Halt)
Day6:Kanyakumari-->Madurai(halt)
Day7:Madurai-->Palani-->Kodaikanl-->Blore
Day8:Blore-->Hyderabad.

Total distance of 3400kms. It was not tiresome to my parents also except the last day. Hope put up a detailed travelogue in couple of days.

@Arun, more than you, kudos to your dad!
That was actually a very nice plan.

Travelling long distances to be in time for temples and being on the move each day!

Very good indeed. Congrats.

You must have reached Rameshwaram by D3 evening ? So your temple visits for Rameshwaram/Dhanushkodi was D4?
And with that you must have reached KK late ? Did you miss the sunset? Looks like that did not matter, as you came back to stay at KK
after visiting TVM.

Yes,kudos to dad n mom. His run-time inputs were very helpful. He is really cheerful guy. His main concern was no night drives.

You guessed right man. We were in Rameshwaram D3 night and D4 we saw temples and Dhanushkodi. I loved Dhanuskodi beaches. Very very clear and blue waters. But dad n mom did not allow us get into sea as we do when we go with friends. And we reached kanyakumari that same day around 11pm and Checked in at Vivekananda Kendra that was only late night drive we did.. Boy i loved that campus. Yes we saw sunset the next day. Every day we used to checkin to hotel by 7 or 8.

Deep,

If you can list your requirements and questions, members can help plan it better for you. Conditions of roads do change with passage of time. At the same you also see new hotels come up.

Amps .. basic requirement was to cover Rameswaram & Kanyakumari,
but looking around on these found out a few more things that should be kept in mind on this side.

So still in the process of zeroing in on targets, will definitely put more specific queries down the line.

For starters, how is Christmas-New Year time frame for these destinations .. does it get too crowded and thus difficult to manage (e.g., temples having longer queues, etc.)??
Its my mom who is keen on these destinations, so looking at this period as I can have 7-8 days time for the trip and keep it slow and less stressful for her.

Its actually a fantastic time to visit these places. Simply, because of the weather. But also note, its the school vacation time. Hence more than temple queues, getting accommodation in a good hotel, is the bigger worry!
