I have the same query regarding condition of Gurgaon-Shimla route, especially the connection between KMP and Delhi Chandigarh Highway, and then obstructions on Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.

I have to start from Sector 55, Gurgaon and Google Maps are suggesting me the following route (KMP-NH44 and then turn right towards Saha to reach Panchkula directly) but there are several Blocked Road warnings near Ambala. If anyone has crossed it recently, is commute possible using service roads and internal village roads??

Hi - Anyone travelled recently on this route? It was in the news that Singhu border has opened, is it opened for vehicle movement or not?

Hi, Singhu border has been opened for traffic. However, blockage issue is after Ambala at Shambhu border. Anyways that won't be an issue if you take Dera Bassi route after Ambala to Chandigarh.

There will be again a push towards Delhi by farmers on 29 Feb 24, so things may change quickly. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Looking for suggestions on bypassing Chandigarh towards Una. With Shambhu border blocked, is going via Ambala-Zirakpur then left towards Kharar is the best route? Any issues to reach Chandigarh? Leaving for Dharamshala on Saturday.

Take left after Uniqlo showroom (just after Decathlon) before reaching Zirakpur, you will hit Airport Road and continue on this till other end at Kharar. If you are coming during peak office hours, you will encounter heavy rush, otherwise you will easily reach Kharar in about 45 mins from Zirakpur turn.

Google Maps is showing these 2 diversions enroute Chandigarh:

1. Near Shahbad, through some village
2. Near Sadopur (bypassing Shambhu border, after going straight towards Dera Bassi).

Hi, I intend to travel from Gurgaon (Golf Course Road) to Chandigarh and then from Chandigarh to Naldehra - in a BMW M2, with wife and kids.

Any inputs on the road conditions (and closures) and suggested route. For context, the car is short wheelbase and not supercar low, so I have rarely bottomed out, but bad patches and bumper to bumper traffic do make the ride physically and mentally uncomfortable.

I am thinking of exiting at 4PM, but push comes to above, I can change plans and move at 5AM too.

Left home from G.Noida at 4:45am. Reached Ambala at 7:15am. Post Ambala, towards Chandigarh the road is blocked for about a KMs. You can go either go right or left and re-join the highway.

Our bad luck was the detour from the left had a broken down truck. This was the shortest detour albeit very narrow. Now had to turn back to the highway. The other side was not an option since it was jam packed with impatient drivers blocking the entire lanes (towards Ambala).

I checked google maps and without wasting anymore time joined NH-152 then took right on road no. 205 navigated through some villages to re-join the NH back at Sarsini. This was absolutely free of traffic and well laid tarmac, ofcourse narrow.

The blocked section on the NH after Ambala is well marked on Google maps.

The road is now open on both sides. Only one lane towards Amabla and all lanes towards Chandigarh. However there was a KM long jam on the opposite side as there were barricades, so one vehicle could pass at a time. They had a concrete wall setup, which was demolished for traffic pass.

Hello all,

In the same dilemma as stated by others above. We are a group of 3 friends travelling from Lucknow to Manali via stopover at Chandigarh. We will be travelling by the road in a Scorpio-N.
Our target dates are:
Lucknow: 16th March start
Chandigarh: 16th March end - start next day
Manali: 17th March end

On the way back, we have the following:
Manali: 24th March start
Delhi: 24th March end - start next day
Lucknow: 25th March end

As it may be, I am having a great amount of difficulty in finding either accurate or updated news on the routes as everything on the news sites is 2-3 weeks old

The route shows blockages (red balls with the dash) - while they show up as either object on road or road block on the phone. Not sure what to do

Would be elated if any route advice is shared

Wow. Google suggesting Aligarh-Bulandsahar vs ALE-YEW.

Given the difference and also taking in consideration that the alternative route is an expressway resulting in higher average speed, here is my recommendation:

ALE-YEW-Pari Chowk-Sirsa entry at EPE-Kundli exit to join NH44 and straight to chandigarh. You enter NH44 at Murthal. The Delhi-Chandigarh route is all clear.

Safe travels!

Thank you for the info, sounds good. But have to keep my eyes peeled for the next 5 days.

By the way, I understood YEW is yamuna expressway, but do not know what ALE is. Could you please elaborate, as the only thing I can make out that it is an expressway?

Agra-Lucknow Expressway

An update for those who want to drive from Delhi to Simla and beyond. On my way to Kaza, Google asked me to leave the Delhi - Ambala GT road after Shahbad Markanda and turn right. We went via Saha - Karasan - Shahzadpur (bypass) - Nada Sahib and joined the Chandigarh - Kalka road at Panchkula. Except for a 1km patch near Saha, this entire stretch is a 4 lane tolled highway.

In fact this is a much better option to bypass Chandigarh, rather than go via the busy Ambala - Zirakpur road. Farmer protest or not, this is not my first choice to head towards Simla and beyond.

Hi
How broken is the 1 Km stretch you mentioned?
I intend to reach panchkula but my car has low GC so in 2 minds as to what route to take from Gurgaon.
