kochi - ramakkalmedu - chinnakanal route enquiry

guys, to be back in god's own country after a long time.

have planned a trip to ramakkalmedu and from there to chinnakanal.

we start on nov. 20th from thevara at about 1400 hrs:

1.which route we should take it to reach idukki before dusk?

2.places to stay either at ramakkalmedu itself or at nedumkandam - or nearby

Take the following route:
Ernakulam-Tripunithura-Muvattupuzha-THodupuzha-Muttom-Nadugani-Kulamavu-Painvau-Cheruthoni-Kattapana-Puliyanmala-Nedumkandam

It should take you 4-5 hours to reach Nedumkandam. The check post at Muttom does not normally allow cars through after 6 pm because of wildlife movements on the road. You should reach this point between 4-5 pm.

In Nedumkandam, why don't you stay at Carmelia Haven?

I know I am replying to this thread a bit late, But check post in Muttom (Moolamattom) DOES allow passage of cars, even bikes any time. They do not have any time restrictions.
