Looks like its going to be a coldd December for you.
Hyd-Bangalore is your standard route.
From Devanahalli on NH7,take a right towards Dodballapur(arrows are marked as Dobbespet.Doddaballapur comes before Dobbespet. From Dodballapur, take the road to Nelamangala. At Nelamangala take a left and you are now on NH4 towards Bangalore.Be careful to read the signs and take the NICE road exit towards Mysore. The NICE road would drop you off at Kengeri.Again on NICE road,be sure to look for the Mysore exit, else you would do just keep going on till Hosur!
Kengeri-Mysore is a 4 laned highway.Traffic would be high and dense, but its fun driving. The highway is one long and big foodcourt, with upteen options to eat.Mcdonalds, kamats,KFC,you name it and they have it there. From Devanahalli to Kengeri should take you around 2 hours and from Kengeri to Mysore should take you another 2-2.5hours.My reccomendation to stop would be at Kadambam restaurant onto your left.
If you leave Bangalore by 4am,you would be at Devanahalli by 10am.Kengeri by 12pm.Mysore by 2-3pm.
From mysore, depending on where you are staying, ask for the Hunsur road.Mysore to Madikeri would take you around 3 hours.Bear in mind, the whole of Coorg is one expensive place to stay in and professionally run hotels are non-existent.Most of them are home stays and coffee estate stays. The best there is Mahindra & Orange County.
Madikeri to Ooty is another 4-5hour drive.I would suggest that you retrace your path to Mysore and then get onto the Ooty road simply for better road conditions.
Enroute, you could stop at CCD Gundulpet, nice place to stop just before you enter the Bandipur WLS.
At Bandipur,if you are interested they have a couple of elephant safaris happening.
Continue on the road towards Ooty till you reach Thepekkadu. At Theppekadu you have either the option of taking the shorter route to Ooty via Masinagudi. The only flip side to this is that you would have to drive the steep 36 hair pins, its a real test.Else from Thepekadu, you go straight towards Gudalur and from thereon to Ooty. This is the longer route.
At Ooty, dont forget to head out to Coonoor, take the toy train trip to Coonoor.Coonoor is much more peaceful and less commercialised as opposed to Ooty.
My reccomendation for stay at Ooty would no doubt be at Sherlock.Easily one of the best places to stay, the location would blow your mind away!
From Ooty, same way back to Bangalore.7-8 hour drive to Bangalore. The other way to do it would be to stay in Mysore while coming back.Go around Mysore, palace,Brindavan gardens etc.Leave Ooty in the morning to reach Mysore for an early lunch.Reason for this suggestion is because you would hardly have any time to go around Mysore while going towards coorg(fatigue and tiredness after a long drive).
Mysore-Hyderabad easily done in 12-13 hours.
PS:if you want pictures of Sherlock, take a look at this TL
