If you want grassy backgrounds with mountains and water, head to the following locations:
- Manchanbele Dam : ~40 km, near Big Banyan tree, off Mysore road
- Kanva reservoir : ~60 km, after Ramanagaram, off Mysore road (one of my favourite locations - zero disturbance from any people, very easy approach road, very peaceful and deserted yet safe). Check my ownership review thread - all the review pictures were taken there

- Krishnagiri dam : ~110 km, after Krishnagiri, off NH 7 towards Salem where you break off and turn right
- Thondanur lake : ~100 km, off Pandavapura, Mysore road
If you want pure grasslands and open areas, head to Hesaraghatta like others have suggested.
If you want racetrack backdrop with tyre walls, chicanes and hairpins, go to Speedway go-karting track and request the owner for a photoshoot. If there are no other customers there, he might allow you on track for a quick photoshoot.

Hills and/or twisties in the background:
- Devarayanadurga : ~60 km, near Dobbaspete, off Tumkur road)
- Nandi hills : ~70 km, near BIAL airport. I personally don't like this because you will almost always end up with some plastic garbage in the frame and maybe even other tourists. It is very crowded
- Yelagiri hills : ~150 km from Bangalore, on Bangalore-Chennai highway.
Hills with dense vegetation / forest type of backdrop:
- B R hills : ~180 km, near Chamarajnagar, accessible through NH 209 Kanakapura road -> Kollegal.
- Nagarhole : ~220 km, accessible through Coorg route
- Bandipur : ~200 km, accessible through Bangalore -> Mysore -> Gundlupet -> Bandipur.
For hills with waterfalls or coffee estates in the backdrop, head to Chikmagalur or Sakleshpur or Madikeri. For tea estate backdrop, closest is Ooty/Coonoor and some parts of Chikmagalur.
