But do look at Kovalam, Varkala, Poovar Island/Estuary, Bekal. All these are nice places, July will also mean not too crowded as the school vacations will be over plus some rain as well at some of these places
Thanks NPV. Yeah if its beach its going to be humid. But I am hoping it will be still manageable compared to summer.

Kovalam and Bekal I was looking at others I was not aware. Any good resorts that you are aware of ?

If you are okay with driving till Karwar, then this place, though slightly expensive, is a good option:

For Poovar, look up Estuary Island Resort and Poovar Island Resort, no personal experience of staying at these places though. I'm guessing there are others but these are the ones that are good from what I've heard from friends.

Varkala is a good place, do look up on Team BHP forums, there should be recommendations/travelogues with first hand experiences.

As @comfortablynumb says, look up Devbagh, Karwar. You can't ask for a more private place and not crowded, the entire beach is for the exclusive use of guests on the island resort (Jungle Lodges)

Bekal - Taj has a beautiful property though pricey is a great place. I've heard Lalit which is almost next door has a similar property as well, again these have a combo of backwaters + the sea beach (estuary)

An alternative to Devbagh is: http://www.thegreatoutdoorsindia.com/

I visited this place back in 2008-09 and loved it.

Thank you DesertRat. How is the safety at this place? And how is the place maintained?

It's an isolated island with only a handful of tents (around 10 if I recall). I would say pretty safe. The accommodation was better than basic but not top-notch. The food was the high point of my trip.

Again, do note that this place will be cheaper than Devbagh. So it is bound to have its limitations.

All said, I would love to revisit one day to see how this place has changed (if it has changed).

Suggestions Required for a week long Karnataka Tour from Bangalore

Friends, I am planning for a week long family adventure cum Pilgrimage tour to Western Ghats and beaches. I did some study around the locations but still confused on creating a circuit.

Who is travelling :- Family of 4 Me, my wife, daughter(18 yrs) and Son (12 yrs)
Duration :- 1 week starting from 26th October to 2-3rd November from Bangalore
Priority :- Pilgrimage (Example Sringeri, Dharmasthala etc )
Adventure (Agumbe rain forest, trekking Chikmagalur?
Beaches (Udupi and Mangalore)

Luxury stay's are not in the itinerary during this trip, home stays, camping, close to culture and Nature.

Please help me in identifying routes ( I hear roads are good) and any stay locations. Thanks in advance.

First thing which comes to my mind is the itinerary mentioned in KSTDC South Karnataka Temple Tour Package This is a tried tested route for more than a decade.

Thanks Murthy.
I am driving in this trip and have looked at the map you shared.
I am going through the following :-
Bangalore-Halebeedu-Belur-Kalasa(stay)-spend few days -
Hornadu-Singeri-Agumbe-Udupi-Mangalore-Back.

Any good location for stay or any activity ideas are welcome.

I can suggest Hotel Advaith Lancer at Sringeri. The rooms are good, has car parking facility and they offer complimentary breakfast. Temples at Sringeri & Udupi provide lunch and dinner. Horanadu temple provides breakfast as well.
