Hi Team-Bhp,

We are starting a trip to Trivandrum tomorrow from Hyderabad and on the return journey we have planned to go to Kanyakumari and be back to Hyderabad via Madurai route.

Can anyone please comment on the road conditions or better/alternate routes, good places to eat, places to relax, scenic routes

We are a group of 5 friends going in an XUV. Heard the road conditions are good till Mysuru and the ghat sections to Thrissur will be closed during the nights.

Planning to start from Hyderabad at 3 PM

Planned route:
Hyderabad - Kurnool - Anantapur - Bengaluru - Mysuru - Gundlupete - Thrissur - Kochi - Kollam - Trivandrum - Kanyakumari - Madurai - Dindigul - Salem - Dharmapuri - Krishnagiri - Malur - Anantapur - Kurnool - Hyderabad

Any reasons, why Gundlupet-Trichur? If you need good roads stick to 4-lane.

Hyd-Bangalore-Salem-Madurai-Nagarcoil-TVM.

Any route through KL will slow you down thanks to traffic. If you want to explore a new route, then its a different altogether.

We were thinking to explore new roads and choose Gundlupet-Trichur stretch for our journey. Are the roads that bad in Kerala ?

Not bad I would say. But be ready to face lots of traffic. Thats the problem.

As Ampere said, you would be better off doing the 4 laned road. If you decide to take the KL roads, you will have to face lot of traffic and you would also be wasting lot of time. But, if you are planning to visit some places in KL before reaching Trivandrum, then it would make perfect sense.
