Hi,

This one is done last year august where the monsoon rains have really done damage to roads. State maps (TTK) are definitely handy to know small villages to ensure you are not off the route.

I believe someone is suggesting the better road in the same thread. May you could explore that one too.

Thanks,
Raghu Lakshman

Help me choose the route.

Bagalkot to Goa is the common point in both the routes.

Route 1 gets to Bagalkot via Yadgir and Shorapur.
Route 2 get to Bagalkot via Raichur. If Badami is chosen over Bagalkot it saves about 10~20 kms.

Route Plan 1

Hyderabad TO Yadgir, Gulbarga, Karnataka Distance: 190.83 Km via SH 20
Yadgir TO Shorapur, Gulbarga, Karnataka Distance: 55.32 Km via SH 15 and SH 19
Shorapur TO Bagalkot, Bagalkot, Karnataka Distance: 149.01 Km via SH 19, NH 13 and SH 19
Bagalkot TO Belgaum, Belgaum, Karnataka Distance: 159.48 Km via SH 20,NH 218, SH 14,SH 20, NH 4
Belgaum TO Panaji Distance: 115.27 Km
Total distance about 670 kms

Route Plan 2
Hyderabad TO Raichur, Raichur, Karnataka Distance: 210.15 Km
Raichur TO Bagalkot, Bagalkot, Karnataka Distance: 202.60 Km
Bagalkot TO Goa Distance: 274 km
Total distance about kms 686 kms

Did this route on MOnday night on the way to Wadi. Route taken was Hyd - Shahbad - Korangal - Yadgir through NH7. Absolutely good roads and was able to do continuous 120 KMPH in the night.

My ride is scheduled on 17 July.
Take off on Friday. Back on Sunday night.

2 days of absolute riding heaven.
Wash the bike rims in the Arabian Sea and come back home.

team-bhp is the one of the few places where that would actually make sense.

Any suggestions on where to stay in Goa.
Some place nice and sasta. (cheap sounds so cheap).

You can try :-

Leslie's Molly Malone

I stayed there atleast thrice and they got really good rooms. Call them and say you know some friends who stayed before from Hyderabad and during same time, paid Rs.800 per night. Check if they offer you the same price.

Beautiful rooms, even better bathrooms and an decent Irish joint for your mocktail evenings and is close to calangute beach ( 0.5km)

Did you happen to go inside the Pocharam Sanctuary?

Hi,
I am planning a trip Hyd-Goa in September. Can you please let me know which route to take from Belgaum to Goa?

1. The route via Londa was like driving on moon couple of years back.
2. I know the route via Amboli Ghat but probably it is a slow route because of Ghat.

Any other alternatives with good roads from Belgaum to Goa?

I always use the Hyd-Solapur-Pandharpur-Gandhiglaj-Amboli Ghat-Sawantwadi-Panjim

From Ghadiglaj to Panjim is one of the most scenic routes to goa especially in monsoon. Its worth the additional kms.

Agree as I have been on Ambola Ghat route. Just wanted to explore other routes if the roads are very good and hence the query on Belgaum to Panjim.

BTW, which route you take from Pandharpur-Gandhiglaj? There seems to me many options - can you please let me know the route and condition?

Thanks.

I used the same route 3 times in past 9 months for my Hyd - Goa - Hyd trip.

Route courtesy - Avi(mobike008). Thank you for the route Avi

I did this route for the first time in Oct'08 during Diwali, second time in Dec'08 during X-mas and recently in the second week of June. But there was a slight change in the route during the return journey's for the last 2 times. I took Panjim - Sawantwadi - Amboli Ghat - Gandhiglaj - Sangole - Mangalvedhe - Solapur - Hyd. From Sangole instead of going via pandharpur - Mohol, take a right at Sangole and you will directly come into Solapur. This route is 20kms shorter and also pretty good road compared against other and also you will avoid navigating through Pandharpur and save time. Only thing is that you need to ask for directions to hit NH9 once you hit Solapur which is pretty easy to reach.

Route - Pandharpur - Sangole - Miraj/Sangli - Jaysingpur - NH4(2kms before Kolhapur) - kagal - Nipani - Sankeshwar By-pass(turn off NH4, take right) - Gandhigalj.

The route is pretty much easy except for some traffic in Pandharpur and Miraj, you may need to check for directions at these 2 places.
