Any idea from the locals when they would be open?
We are travelling this Thursday and planned (booked) for an overnight stay at Haritha.

Thanks

Earlier water was released through canals and power production. 12 gates have been opened today.

Did you go over the weekend? Was it a day visit or was it with an overnight stay there?

6 out of 24 (or is it 26) gates were open and the water level was absolutely full at 590FTL.

Having lived 26+ years in Hyderabad, I finally made my maiden visit to Nagarjuna Sagar.

I went on Monday, 19th, and came back on Tuesday, 20th, though did not stay at Haritha.

Here are a few photos from my side :

The house made for the architect of the dam, Mr.K.L.Rao. This is where I stayed :

We visited on 8th and 9th, overnight stay on 8th.
I posted on 8th that the gates are closed (the gates were closed while we were watching), and posted it right away on some sites including team-bhp, so that it can be of help for people planning to visit over the weekend.

but on 9th, it appeared to be that the whole of Hyderabad visited Nagarjuna Sagar. There was heavy traffic inbound.

We planned to take the boat to the 'konda', but after witnessing a overcrowded boat almost sink, we returned.

Like your photos, and envy you for getting a closure look.

Re: Weekend Getaways from Hyderabad

Slightly OT. This weekend I need to visit a temple where I can tonsure my kid. This is his second. Heard I can do it in Chilkur and visited this Tuesday, but the temple authorities said that the tonsuring can be done at the barber shop. This is not what I wanted. I want the temple to be like Tirupati. My kids first tonsuring happened there and need to know similar temples in Hyderabad or surroundings. How about yadagirigutta, do they have that facility there?

You can happily get your kids tonsured at Yadagirigutta. They have the facility similar to Tirupati (not the same infrastructure though).

Many pilgrims who cannot afford to go to Tirupathi opt for Yadagirigutta for tonsuring.

About three years back, we did the tonsuring for my niece at Yadagirigutta.

You may check the current information by contacting them:

Surendrapuri is a nice destination which is very close to Yadagirigutta. Check this website.

During my last year visit to Yadagirigutta, did visit this place. It was not that exciting apart from huge statues here and there. Will see if there are any exciting changes this year.

Re: Weekend Getaways from Hyderabad

This is one of the least active Hyderabadi threads ; clearly shows the lack of options we have for weekend getaways.

A group of us from office were planning to go for weekend trip during Chinese New Year, (last weekend of Jan) leave Thursday Nite and back on Sunday. It is a fairly large group of 40-50, adults, kids of different age groups.

Any suggestions experts ?

1. Nagarjunsagar Dam
2. Vikarabad ( Book the Haritha Resort), Nice place to spend the night
but, not 2 nights
3. Srisailam Dam
4. Suryalanka Beach Resort

All of the above are good for just one night. Two nights would be an overkill
