Ashtavinayak from Pune

Is this time of the year - mansoons - a bad time for visiting some of the Ashtavinayak temples from Pune. I am not planning to do the full religious route.

But rather visit a couple of temples (3-4) hours & return home.
Then maybe go back the next weekend for a temple or two.

Which are nearest from Pune which I could visit?

Mahad and Morgaon are nearby and one way travel time shouldn't be more than 2-3 hrs. These two are in opposite directions but referring to a Maharashtra map will help you plan better.

I am sure other places are in the category of single day visits and can be clubbed together.

All are within 50-100 kms from Pune. Ideally one in 2 days.

From this map - http://www.aroundpune.com/images/astavinayak.jpg
it looks like Theur & Morgaon are in the same direction.

Morgaon | Ashtavinayak
Theur | Ashtavinayak | Shri Chintamani

Can someone give directions from Parihar Chowk? Also how are the roads?
Will rains be a problem?

hello,
you can make all ashtvinayak trip in two days.
you can do it like this.
1. pune to theur.
start early say 7 am from pune.
take solapur highway nh9. drive @ 20/25 km towards solapur. cross toll naka. there will be left turn towards theur. theur is 2/3 km inside the highway. take darshan .
2. theur to morgaon.
from theur , come to solapur highway. drive towards solapur. after small town yawat, you will a village named choufula on nh9. take right turn towards supa, morgaon. drive @ 30 km. you will be at morgaon. take darshan.
3. morgaon to sidhdhatek.
from morgaon, again come to solapur highway via supa.
drive towards solapur. at village named patas, take left turn towards daund.
reach daund. remember you should cross railway overbridge to enter daund.
drive in the city of daund. ask for directions to shirapur or siddhtek. small road leads to sidhdhtek. take darshan at sidhdhtek.
4. sidhdhtek to ranjangaon.
from sidhdhatek, come to daund . drive towards ahmednagar. take left turn at kashti towards nhavara. take right turn at nhavara towards shirur. reach to nagar pune highway just before 5 km shirur. take left turn towards pune. at 10 km from this turn, you will be at ranjangaon.
5. ranjangaon to pune.
just drive on 4 lane highway towards pune.
day ended.
you have covered 4 ganapaties of ashtavinayak.
do you want to cover more on next day?

on next day, start at 7 am.

5. pune to ozar.
drive towards nasik on nh50. via kasarwadi, nasikphata, bhosari, chakan, rajgurunagar, manchar , narayangaon. take left turn at narayangaon towards ozar. take darshan at ozar. dist. @ 100 km.

6. ozar to lenyadri.

from ozar, drive towards junnar. enter in the city of junnar. ask for directions. lenyadri is 5 km from junnar. take darshan at lenyadri. this temple is in the cave. you have to climb the hill. this is somewhat tiresome. not so hard. steps are there. you will see the fort of shivneri , birhplace of king shivaji. if time permits, you can reach the fort. gov has fully developed this fort for tourist.

7. lenyadri to pali.

from lenyadri, drive towards narayangaon. from narayangaon, take nh50 and drive towards pune. at chakan, take right turn towards talegaon. this road is packed with industries. reach to talegaon. from talegaon, you have two options. either take expressway or nh4 to reach khopoli. i recommend to take nh4 until lonawala and expressway for lonawala to khopoli tollnaka. reach tollnaka at khopoli expressway. DO NOT CROSS TOLL NAKA. 100 METERS BEFORE REACHING TO TOLL NAKA AT KHOPOLI, THERE IS SMAALL ROAD AT LEFT SIDE TO REACH ON PALI - KHOPOLI ROAD. reach to pali khopoli road. drive towards pali @ 35 km. taka darshan at pali. keep patiens during driving in pali. roads are small with traffic.

8. pali to mahad.
this mahad is small village near khopoli. do not confuse with the city of mahad on mumbai goa highway nh17.
from pali, take khopoli road. reach khopoli. do not enter i khopoli. take left turn on nh4 crossing towards panwel. drive slowly on left lane. at @ 2/3 km, there is left turn towards mahad. take darshan.

9. mahad to pune.

from mahad, come to nh4. drive towards khopoli. enter in khopoli. drive towards pune by nh4. in the ghat, you will enter somewhere on expressway. drive towards pune. its a bliz. if time permits, you can enjoy chikkis at lonawala.
day ended.
congratulations.
you have completed ashtvinayak tour.

this is religious still enjoyable tour. you will come across rural life, big rivers, sahydri mountain, industrial hub, expressway, lot of eateries, forts , forest and what not.
roads are good. some stretches may be bad but drivable. this is totally safe tour for families.
enjoy the tour.
for more information, pm me.
