Wierdly, each one of the UP villages had 2 pillars of a flyover built, but no flyover!
They are still pillars? I thought they must have turned into flyovers (if not all, but some) by now. Because I too saw the "pillars only flyovers" when I went to Ranikhet in March.

Moradabad bypass is the best of the lot, and even to go to Ramnagar,
you can take it.
Fully agree with you, previously in both occassions (Trips to Corbett and Ranikhet) I took that road, and loved it.

Ok guys sorry for being late to the party but here's a small breakdown of the latest situation till Ramnagar.

The road from Delhi till Hapur bypass is fantastic & if you drive like I do you can easily average 100-120 kmph here. After the Hapur bypass the road really deteriorates till Brijghat after which it improves somewhat till Moradbad bypass. From Moradabad bypass take a left back towards Moradabad & then take the first right turn towards Thakurdwara. This road is absolutely FANTASTIC!! and a pleasure to drive on till Ramnagar. I covered this 105kms stretch 2 weeks back in 75 minutes in a Verna CRDI in the night!!!

Also one tip if you're leaving from Delhi it's advisable to use the Electronic City road through Noida rather than the Patparganj route as this can save you a lot of time.

Also regarding the flyovers well on this highway the plan is to bypass all towns/villages by building a flyover across them including Gajraula which is around 4-5kms long!! But the project completion date is Sept 2007 so don't expect anything atleast for the next 6 months.

Also ND seems you called on my Delhi number which currently has a problem so I'm PM'ing you my other number & you can call on it today.

Kausani: Krishna Mount View / Chevron Mountain Villa
Ranikhet: West View / Chevron Rosemount

I have been to these two places recently, so naming these hotels. Not sure about the best Nainital hotel, only once I've been there and didn't like the place personally.

Vikram vintage is a good option in Nainital. Extremely courteous staff, decent tariffs

hey ive done the delhi-corbett-nainital-ranikhet--kausani-almora-nainital-ramnagar-delhi route in feb this year in an 800.. roads are good till ranikhet .. after that narrow roads i took a route thru some someshwar( u get booze here we picked up a bottle of romonov for 420 i think damn expensive) . road from ranikhet isnt too good .. max 20-25 kmph on this road..

yes now coming to almora frankly i wud never recommend going to that place .. i drove there parked my car walked around the place for a good one hr its pathetic to say the least .. too overcrowded and looks more like an overcrowded town ... avoid passing thru almora but definitely go to kausani night driving is not recommended on these roads .. coz u wudn even spot a soul on these roads at night dont even try it its dangerous ..

kausani i spent a night my hotel( wud call it more a lodge ) was below the gandhi ashram .. beautiful view of the himalayan range i paid 350 for the room .. i think was mountview hotel .. many lodges here in kausani .. and expensive hotels too ..
if u stay at the gandhi ashram u have to help in with work too and attend all the prayer meetings ( thats what a signboard displayed) ...
kausani is beautiful visit the tea gardens too..

cheers

The roads in UP are a myth, they do not exist. I don't think "zul kam hain", but road "nahin hain".

At Binsar, you have the options - in order of comfort and luxury - of club mahindra, khali estate and kmvn hotel. However, the kmvn property has by far the best view. It is without electricity, though.

Kausani has plenty of places, with the kmvn place being a good option (the last property on the road), and a good view again.

Help me choose a route please

Hi,
Planning to go to BInsar.
I have some confusion about the route.
1. I prefer to go from Moradabad to Ramnagar.
Its after that the confusion starts.
I can go to Mohan- Ranikhet-almora =-Binsar, but the roads are horrendous.
Other route I can think of it towards Kaladhungi-Nainital-Almora-Binsar.

Any more suggestions please.
Nainital takes 6 hours from delhi and Binsar will be another 2-3.
Is there a shorter route which bypasses Nainital?
Need good roads and uttranchal roads can be very very messy

Don't take the Mohan route Tanveer, that would be quite bad & dangerous too since it's mostly un-inhabited.

I guess you can not skip Nainital, atleast the bypass road, but you do not have to go to Ranikhet for Binsar. Thats too long route unless you intend to spend some time in Ranikhet.

Best will be Nainital, Alomra By Pass(I guess there is a split road), Binsar. Roads from Nainital to Almora and Binsar were in very good condition where I was there 1.5 yrs back.

Ok, if are coming from Kathgodam side you can skip nanitial, by taking Bhimtal-Bhowali-Almora route.

Now as you are coming from Kaladhuni side, I think you have to pass through Nanital.

Why don't you take Moradabad-Rudrapur-Haldwani-Kathgodam route. Please check the road conditions

Won't going to Kathgodam mean a longer ride?
Nainital to Kaladunghi is just 30kms
