These are some of the scenic routes you can do in normal car.
There are some scenic routes in thane and nasik districts.
I agree with most of the routes mentioned by you, Ashish. And I am happy too see name of my home town 2-3 times..

you can go to murud janjira via alibag and via roha.
alibag-janjira via kashid beach is scenic.

the routes posted are all scenic during monsoon but some may be troublesome during monsoon. thats why i had posted it with best time to visit.
e.g. vengurla-malwan is scenic but during monsoon, this part is prone for heavy showers and you will not able to enjoy stops and scenery.

Beyond Manali towards Leh, i think every km is a beautiful stretch.

But from Mumbai - a short weekend getaway drive, i agree with Ashish - it has to be the Alibagh - Karad - Murud - janjira route. Its got the coast on one side and the other are green hillocks.

The beautiful and doable route for the parched Mumbaikar!

Went to Murud via Roha during monsoon last year. It was a fantastic drive through hills bordered with woods and meadows. The entire route was practically deserted and very picturesque. I would highly recommend that route.

Drives from Mysore towards Western Ghats and Nilgiris!

Bandipur-Gudalur-Nilambur is beautiful.
So is Gundlupet-Waynad stretch.

In south for Ghat drives my vote goes to Chinnar Marayur Munnar stretch, especially view of the lush tea gardens once you near Munnar. There are few stretches in Chinnar that provides a picturesque deep valley view.
