Whats YOUR quirk?
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-travel-queries/19317-whats-your-quirk-4.html)
I have this strange quirk (read paranoid) about kids running into my car. Whenever I see children playing/standing or even sleeping besides roads, my speed literally drops to less than 30 km/hr. Never had any experience to back this behavior though.

And why would you want to make it mre noticeable? Also do you do this in the day or in the night? |
the reason to make it more noticeable is for the reason that it gives better judgement regarding lane changing, which lane are u driving in (some countries require you to keep ur head lights on during highway travel) & this is day as well as night.
in a car i wish to avoid the wrath of the bigger vehicles, rather any vehicle on the highway.
I believe the headlights On criteria is only for bikes & not for Cars.
Well this is surely a quirk .

No in certain European countries like Finland it is a criteria for all vehicles to have their Headlights switched ON all of the time. Most manufacturers there install auto headlight ON systems in their cars for these countries.
Oh ok didnt knew this. Thanks for the info :)

Now that is a quirk.:) I'd do just the opposite, so
my car would look cleaner. Heh, heh.

Buddy, keep this up. You're lucky
not to have the experience. My neighbour did once (at no fault of his), and believe me, he got away by the skin of his teeth without being beaten silly by the "socially-responsible" folks (who always hang around doing nothing) near the kid's house.
This is a
really nice thread, by the way.
Quirk #1.: As is the case with the majority ... Reverse parking
Quirk #2.: Always, in reverse, judge the parking / movement by looking at OVRMs only, that brings up #3,
Quirk #3.: OVRM's to be in perfect position to enable a good view
Quirk #4.: Normally would try to take a glance under the car to ensure there arent any critters or any so around before moving the car after a long period of parking
Well here are my quirks:
1. Always warm up my car for atleast 1-2 mins before setting off.
2. Always use the ORVM's.
3. Always have to park just right, no matter what car I am & how tight the space is!!
4. Always stick to one garage/one service advisor.
5. Hate to be driven, infact get broody & depressed if have to sit idle in the car for long periods.
6. Usually when driving alone or in a good mood always do heel-&-toe downshifts!
7. Hate when people honk or flash unnecessarily.
8. Always belt-up infact can't drive without a seat belt nowadays.
9. Hate two-wheelers & slow vehicles driving in the fast lane especially on highways.
Rest just for illustration here's a demonstration of my parking quirks:

ishan, since this is a quirk, I guess you park this way on a daily basis. Have you never had the car come in contact with the wall even once ?
If the car has never got scratched even once, you are not just quirky, but also have amazing parking skills. clap:
Man, may the good Lord never bless me with such a quirk. :)
OMG. Is there a gap between the car and the wall?

Ditto for all 4. I am especially careful of #4 every time I take the car out as we have around 12+ (floating population) cats in our house. And most of them prefer to spend their time on the car or under it, or in the wheel wells. They should all sign up with TBHP :-)
Ishan, :Shockked:. I can park almost that good, but not without my LHS ORVM. You have it folded too. Greatest parking I've seen.
Loads of stuff in common I guess...
I have a habit of saying hi to my car in the morning and a thank you (for not breaking down on me) and good night at the end of the day. Don't really treat the car as a vehicle, its more like another family member.
My wife finds it funny... but I don't care! :)
@ishan ,driving more than 200 kms per day and then this, add me to your fanclub please?

Ditto..!! I have rushed from movie halls, restaurants, my house, etc. when I get a feeling that I have not locked my car :) .
In traffic whenever I apply brakes I fear a motorcyclist to bang into the back of my car, hence I always look at my mirror as soon as I put my foot on the brake.
When my car is stationary and I see traffic moving from my left, I keep looking out for people who might have a careless tendency to just nudge the car while trying to get out of a lane.
When I reverse park, I ensure that my car is clear of the doors of the cars standing next to mine so that they dont scratch my car.
Geez... I have a lot of quirks! |
Oh my god ... it seems I have the exact same quirks as you do ... most people in my house think I am crazy :)
