Thanks for the update msdivy, Iam thinking of taking Chitradurga - Hospet route while going to Hospet (NH 4- NH 13) and on return journey taking Bellary- Challakere - Hiriyur route.
Yes, had guessed about river crossing. Anyways will take the road route to Anegondi.

Sorry to ask, but what does this mean? Is it so that some roads (NH-13?) should be avoided due to no river crossing on the Tungabhadra?

Thanks @msdivy, I misunderstood. BTW, thought of asking people who already visited... I hope it's allowed to take your own car near these monuments and temples? Some tourist attractions up North have this irritating rule of not allowing cars or taxis, forcing you to take local autos & cycle-rickshaws (who will, of course, fleece you to glory, while claiming to be offering absolutely fair rates)!

The fort is open from 8.30 am, suggest you not to take the car to Fort becoz of small roads, instead hire an auto for INR 35-40. A guide is better to have along with you as there is little information available. Plan a visit to Chandravalli about 3-4 kms from fort, a very beautiful place.

No restrictions. You take the car up to designated parking area. For Vittala Temple Complex, you have park & take the electric vehicle or you can walk (around 1 Km distance). Heard that vehicles are not allowed to reduce vibrations, pollution and to generate local employment.

Thanks for the information. However I am planning of stopping at Chitradurga fort on way to Hampi. Iam driving down to Hampi so will be in car anyways. Was thinking of taking this route from NH. Iam planning of reaching there around 8AM, hope getting parking will not be much of an issue.

Yes, I too saw the travelogue, however while for onward journey I may be bit too early (start from Bangalore around 4.30 - 5 AM). Will plan the dam visit during return journey.
Thanks for the information.

Re: Bangalore to Hampi Via Anathpur

Is this route still OK to go, considering that it crosses AP, and we recently have the two new states announced?

Just because I live in Whitefield. But even the Tumkur-Hiriyur-Bellary route is fine.

You can take the Whitefield-Devanahalli-Dodballapur-Nelamangala route to connect to NH4.Less traffic and ok roads.
