Just heard, there seems to be some roadblock at Ambur-Vanyambadi with village folks staging protest. A long line of vehicles waiting to be cleared.
Folks on road please take care.
EDIT: Looks like its slowly getting cleaned up.
Getting reports over twitter (Tamilnadu Weatherman @Praddy06) saying NH near Ambur is waterlogged.

At least looks like the protest got cleared. Traffic is resuming on the highway. The protest also it seems was because area is getting flooded.
The Vellore district received very heavy rainfall in the past two days. It looks like the NH-48 is flooded.
I returned from Bangalore to Chennai today morning. It was raining cats and dogs right after the exit of NICE road exit all the way up to Vellore. I did not see any roadblock around Ambur, as mentioned in the above posts. But traffic was standstill somewhere before Attibele and I was asked by Police personal to go towards Anekal and then take diversion towards Hosur. He said the highway was blocked due to waterlogging. But Google somehow guided me through some narrow village roads and I could join back the highway at Attibele.
This is the route I took.

Experienced the same thing, but I did not detour and the traffic cleared up before the attibele toll booth, they had diverted traffic from the opposite lane onto this side and it caused the chaos, there severe water on the other side
really heavy rain from ambur to vellore but no standing water
My cousin drove from Madras to Bangalore this morning. He said there is no flooded roads between Vellore to Ambur and its all dry and sunny as of this morning (19th Aug)

I am planning to travel to Bangalore from Chennai this weekend. How strict are Bangalore cops regarding sunfilms? What is the approximate fine imposed? Thanks.

Haven't seen a single car being stopped for sunfilms anywhere across the city.

Drive an upscale looking sedan with TN plates and watch the cops stop you for sunfilm at every given opportunity and then carry out an additional fishing expedition to check your RC, DL, PUC and Insurance to try for just how much additional fine can be levied. If they see sunfilm they'll threaten to remove it with a blade. As traffic fines are revised steeply upwards I am not aware of the new rates for this.
That is one reason I started bringing my Scorpio along on Chennai Bangalore runs. Cops tend not to stop these.

Did a Vento (MH number plate) for a while; no issues faced. Been driving a TN number plate Interceptor since last 2 months quite a lot all around the city, haven't been stopped nor saw any other outstation 2/4 wheelers been stopped.
Anyway my post was wrt to my recent experiences till date. You and others are free to share any recent experiences with @MadrasTurbo for him to make an informed decision :thumbs up

I do Chennai Bangalore runs once a month at a minimum as my office(s) are in MG Road / Whitefield and home is in Chennai. The last time I took my Fiesta - which kept getting fined - to Bangalore was last October, I've only taken my Scorpio since then, and haven't had any traffic cop hassles. With my Fiesta I'd face such issues almost every other trip I made.

Maybe I was lucky, or my Civic (TN registered) is not considered upscale enough. Never been stopped in such a fishing expedition.
Except for the few months that 1-month rule was in force, Bangalore has been very lenient.

They'd infest some specific points - around Hudson / Corporation Circle, just past the down ramp of the e city flyover, that sort of place. Usually closer to the end of the month when they're anyway eager to make up their quotas for vehicles to fine.

Regardless how strict or lenient the cops are, it is illegal now to have sun films so do plan to get them removed soon, you may not be lucky always :)
