We recently rented a villa for a week. 4 bedroom, has pool. Costs 11k for 8 people (we were a group of 12, paid 13k) and has a caretaker who can also prepare good food. Location could be a wee bit remote (not a trouble though since you'd be having cars/bikes), about 2 km from Anjuna beach and 5-6 from Baga.

Novotel is a good option. I don't know if the hotel is a 4-star or 5-star but it has got great reviews on the travel portals. Is also on the cheaper side compared to true 5-star hotels like the Taj.

You may not find "that" many 5-star properties in north Goa. Most are in south Goa along Verna to Cavelossim coast line. You have Leela, Hyatt, Taj etc.

Hey guys Will be staying at Club Mahindra Varca beach resort. Any heads up as to which side of the property has a better view or which side I can totally avoid would be great.

Also if anyone's been there recently how is the food inside the club ? Asking this because last time the food at Club Mahindra Lake Pawna resort was strictly average inspite of the good reviews.

Thanks in advance.

If heading with Family, do take a look at Alila Diwa in South Goa. I would highly recommend it. Awesome pool's, beach is walk-able (but have to be back in the hotel before sundown since the road gets pretty dark and scary), good restaurant's within the complex and 1/2 very good eat-out's at walking distance.

Heading to North Goa - do check out Lemon Tree. Quality of the place/pool etc is not the best and nowhere near Alila, but this place is bang in the middle of practically everything! I was there 2 weeks back and we were hardly getting back to the hotel before 2am! Once again beach is walkable, but better to get back before sundown since the road gets pretty dark.

Leela in south is a good option. Don't know if any five star properties exist in north Goa. Wherever you stay please do visit Baba Au Rhum in Arpora. Its an eatery started by French expats. Serves great food. Service is bit slow.

Try Holiday Inn at Mobor Beach (South Goa). This is next to Leela. I was there in December 2013 and loved the place. It is right on the beach, has a great pool and beautiful, well maintained huge property.

Along the same coastal road with Leela and Exotica you also have Hyatt. Worth checking. Its a good property.
