Given the shortest distance from the bypass in dug up, would it makes sense to go all the way upto the end of the bypass, come back towards Hassan and get on to Belur road? Would we save anything?

The bad stretch in Hassan city is 2.5 kms. You cannot avoid the bad stretch anyway, the best option currently would be to take the bypass, turn right at Gorur road junction (left goes to Gorur), take left at Santhepet circle. But, this road is crowded and full of trucks and bullock carts, especially if you are traveling on a tuesday (shandy day)
Thanks Addyhemmige. On Hassan bypass, after taking right turn at Gorur road junction towards Santhepet, is it possible take the first left towards APMC and reach the belur road? Is this route OK for avoiding traffic?

THanks,
Ramki

Not much of a difference. Even that road is bad. Traffic will be a bit less than the city though.

There is actually one other

Ramki, the road through APMC is within a walled compound and it will even worse than the main road. APMC is basically a market where you will find goods autos, tata Aces, bullock carts and other trucks parked haphazardly

I also came to know about this route to Sringeri:
Bangalore-tumkur-arasikere-Bhadravati-Koppa-Sringeri.

People say this route is less potholed. Have anybody traveled in this route? Is it recommendable to take this route instead?

Thanks,
Ramki

re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

Hello Team,

I travelled through this yesterday Bangalore - Channarayapatna - Holenarsipur - Arakalagud - Mallipatna - Shanivarasante - Somawarapet - Madikeri - Sampaje.

Channrayapatna just took about an hour to reach from Bangalore and from there to Holenarsipur the road is very good, no problems whatsoever apart from the last 1 KM to Holenarsipur which is only mettled and not tarred. Also the road from Holenarsipur to Arkalgud is also good by indian standards and they are tarring the road, so I guess its not an issue going further.

The road from Arkalgud to Mallipatna is a little rough but not bad and is definitely manageable. However, once we enter the Coorg district roads are excellent right from Shanivarsante to Somparpet upto madikeri and Sampaje.

I travelled in my YETI and it was a breeze, lovely plantations all around and it is one of the scenic roads I have travelled especially the stretch which passes through the TATA estates. For regular travellers I would suggest you try this road once in a while to avoid the boring and speedbreaker-ridden Bangalore - Mysore - Hunsur - Madikeri stretch.

Happy travelling !!!

re: Bangalore - Kukke Subramanya : Route Queries

Been to Dharmasthala and back on the 3rd & 4th of March. Took the Bengaluru - Hassan - Shiradi Ghat - Dharmasthala route on both onward and return journeys.

- Road till Bellur cross is complete for a while now (Toll charges 36.00 +36.00= 72.00).
- Thereafter, till Channarayapatna, road is ready in patches, so many "take diversion".
- Hassan byepass WIP (metalling stage). Only 'traffic from Sakleshpur' get the tar road, traffic from Blore side had to travel on the metalled road.
- Shiradi Ghat is in better shape, lot of patchwork has been done, bumpy but can take this (2nd, 3rd gear stuff)
- NH48 after Gundya is in prime condition
- Road after Kokkada cross (right from NH 48) is OK'ish, with asphalting in progress at some stretches.

blue_pulsar, I drove to Kukke 4 weeks ago. During the complete drive from Bangy to Kukke, Hassan bypass is the only place where roads where still being laid and was bad. But crossing this just takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The rest were good and drivable at decent pace. Shiradi ghat road was tarred nicely but rough, but no trenches or deep potholes which you expect once the rain starts.
