If you really want to go via Bisle (which is very beautiful btw) you better take your gypsy

Still don't own a gypsy... there are/were plans .... but priorities changed...
Just read Samurai's post on Bisle ghat. I guess that route is ruled out. Even Shiradi Ghat is ruled out thanks to shivasuma's update
The only route now is Madikeri - Sulya - Kukke. Anybody got updates on the current road conditions on this route. Also route info needed.

However compared to NH48, its a pure bliss. I could maintain 60Kms per hour. I should have taken this route for my onward.
Avoid Shiradi, and take Charmadi instead if you care of your car. |
What is the distance from Kukke to Bangalore using this route
@daisyb - should be around 300-320

Nopes.
Bangalore - Mudigere (Via Hassan - Belur ) is 250kms.
Mudigere - Kukke (Via Ujire - Dharmasthala) is 130kms. So it's almost 380kms.

As per Samurai,
The road is getting repaired. It's closed for heavy vehicles as of now.
Hi,
I went through the previous posts, there seems to be a mixed opinion about the route advised.
I am travelling on 25th Dec in my Innova to Kukke from Bangalore.
Any advice on the relatively better routes is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Yes your right Zoomsun, it is quite confusing on which route to take. Any help will be most appreciated.
I think based on what Sushrutha mentioned, you should take the Charmadi route.
Blr-Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Charmadi-Ujire-Dharmasthala-Kukke.
If you are ok with 130kms extra, then take the Charmadi route. Else if you can manage 35+ odd kms of Sakleshpura - Gundya road then take Shiradi ghats.
I had visited Kukke last friday, took Charmadi while going & on return I took Shiradi ghats. In an Innova it should not be much of an issue in Shiradi if driven slowly. Most of the potholes + surface of the road has been scrapped, now it's mostly gravel
We travelled upto Madikeri vis Hunsur road last month. The road condition is very good.
I remember going Madikeri to Kukke via Sulya 3 years back and it was good drive.
Has anyone travelled recently from Madikeri to Kukke? How is that road now?
Please check my post #96.
It's been closed for road repair now. Only LMV's n 2 wheelers are allowed as of now it seems.
Understand Sushrutha. So whether they would allow a civic to get in is question. Any other route from Madikeri to Kukke?
Thanks Sushruta. That looks bad. Had 2 days - was planning to stay a day in Madikeri and next day visit Kukke. Think its better to do Kukke directly and may be do Dharmashtala.
That brings us back to the old topic - which ghat to take Bisle or Shiradi or Charmadi route.....Bisle I was told is still the same....now that leaves Shiradi and the other route...with elders and a kid - not a great choice to make - which one to take.
