If you are traveling day time then start early morning from Bangalore

On the way you can find Kamath Upachar .Evening time you can

reach Kukke and night you can stay there .(Now don't know the

condition of road after NH cross to Kukke)

Next morning you can go to Dharmasthala .After taking the darshan

and food(Anna dhana) you can start back to Bangalore .10PM you can

reach Bangalore easily.

ramki067, please take a look at akroy's recent thread on his trip to Saligram.

Your best bet is to take the same route to Dharmasthala.

Bangalore - NH4 (towards Tumkur) - Nelamangala - NH48 - Solur - Kunigal - Nelligere - Hirisave - Channarayapatna - Dandiganahalli - Hassan -
Alur - Sakleshpur - Naranhalli - Shiradi

Just after the Shiradi ghat section, you will see a board for Kamat Upachar ahead. Take a right at the fork ahead to reach Dharmasthala.

Restaurants that I noticed on the way were:
Kamat Upachar at Channarayapatna
Some decent looking hotels just before the Sakleshpur ghat section.

I recently did Shirali to Bangalore in the evening / night and stopped only twice - at Manipal and Sakleshpur. NH48 is better during the night but since you want to drive during the day, I'd suggest an early start out of Bangalore.

I'm not very sure about the best route to Subramanya but I would think NH48 upto Shiradi and then turning right off from there is the fastest way - via Ichlampady, Bantra and Aithoor.

HRAG is right .Kukke to dharmasthala is around 1.5hrs depends on

road condition. Kukke to Dharmastala 72 kms.

There is a left turn for Kukke Subramanya immediately after Sakleshpur town...Ask anybody there, they will guide you...
I dont know about the road condition from Kukke to Dharmashthala....
Dharmashthala to NH48 (at Golitattu) is excellent...
In your return journey start from Dharmashthala by 3PM so that u can reach Neelamangala by 9Pm....dont delay after that as the buses from bangalore will start hiting NH48 after that and u have to face lots of incoming traffic....

There are 3 routes from Bangalore:
1) via Hassan, Shiradi
2) via Chikkamaglur, Charmadi
3) Hunsur, Sulya

Currently route 1 is the best. So from Bangalore take NH48 to Nelamangala and go via Kunigal, Hassan, Sakleshpur. At a place called Gundya, turn left to Kukke Subrahmanya.
Note: A bridge was being constructed on this route via Gundya. I am not sure a small car can make via the side road. I would suggest you go over till Uppinangadi and then to Kukke via Kadaba.

You can check out these sites:

Pilgrimages in India » Dharmasthala

6AM start
8:30AM: Breakfast break at KAmat
9AM: Start from CR patna
10:30AM: Sakleshpur
12PM: Kukke Subramanya (This is my calculated guess, I dont know abt the roads)

You should be in Kukke before noon...

This turn is some time after Sakleshpur town. IIRC, there is a check-post at that point, and the road in that section is a straight stretch.

To go to Dharmasthala from Kukke, you would come back to the highway from Kukke to this check post, turn left to head west. Go further down - the road to Dharmasthala is to your right.

so condor if we come from Sakleshpur town the left turn at check post takes to Kukke and the right to Dharmastala. Is that right?

Hi ramki, the directions are well indicated. Since you are travelling during day, you won't miss the check post. BTW, do verify the condition of the road before taking it.

From this check post, if you travel further (along NH48) for about 20~25Km, you will reach a T-junction where you have to take right for Dharmasthala. This is also well indicated.

Enjoy your trip

ramki, the turn-off's are like msdivy says in the above post. The exits for Kukke & Dharmasthala are not at the same spot. Hope there's no confusion
