Renting a child car seat in India? For temporary use?

We are going for a self-drive trip of Meghalaya starting from Guwahati. We have a 6-yr old with us and generally whenever we travel in a car we try to have her in a car seat. Unfortunately, the rental car company does not provide that as an add-on.

Does anyone know if there is any shop/agency in Guwahati which provides child car seats or booster seats for rent?

Bump. Have similar requirement for a Bangalore rental for a stroller. Any pointers?

With a six year old, you don’t need a full fledged child seat. You only need a booster seat. And that will work only if the child is used to the concept of child seats/booster seats and also to being belted in. Otherwise, it’s of no use as the child will simply cry his eyes out on being restrained.

Booster seats are pretty cheap. Plenty of branded options on Amazon for Rs 1000 to 2000. Best to buy your own. They are good for age 6 to 10-12.

You can carry it on the plane for no extra charge.

In fact you can carry any stroller you want for free on an airplane till the aircraft door. This one just happens to be very compact, its the size of cabin size luggage so fits practically anywhere.

Just take the one you already have.

I just might! The child is 2.5 years old, so already the number of months the stroller can still be used are limited. Might as well put it to good use on the trip.

Updating this thread. As suggested by antz.bin, I took my current stroller all the way till airplane, where it was stowed away and returned while getting off the plane. One word of caution, you need to put it through the bag x-ray machine to get it tagged, only then it clear the security check.
