Hyderabad - Shirdi : Route Queries

I am planning a trip to Shirdi from Hyderabad next weekend. I would like to also stop at tuljapur on the way.

Anybody knows the best routes and distances to this route? And suggestions are most welcome.

We did this trip in Dec 2002. We went on the Pune road via Sangareddy and Temburni--took a right soon after Temburni and reached Shirdi via Ahmednagar.
Total distance was around 625 kms, if I remember correctly.
Not sure about Tuljapur, but we stopped at Ahmednagar to visit the Tank museum---it was fabulous, with many models of battle tanks.
Finished darshan in 30 mins flat (we were lucky),and set off to Aurangabad on the same evening. Visited Ajanta and Ellora thereafter.
Wish you a happy journey.

Thanks Vnabhi, How far is temburni from here? Is this right turn before solapur or after solapur?

Temhurni is 400 kms from Hyderabad, 88 kms after Solapur, on NH9 itself (Pune road)

Thanks kumarsaab, so i cross solapur via the bypass and keep going on for 88 kms and then i take a right turn from Temhurni towards Shirdi? And how many kms would be Shirdi after the right turn from Temhurni? 225km?

Yes, take the Solapur bypass, go on to Tembhurni on NH9. At Tembhurni, take a right turn into the Karmala road (Karmala 45 kms), and go on to Ahmednagar (95 kms). This means Solapur-Ahmednagar is 225 kms. From Ahmednagar, Shirdi is approximately 80 kms. I think you can also cover Shani Singapur Temple on the way

Since you want to go to Tuljapur, there is a better route. Turn off NH9 at Naldurg (45 kms BEFORE Solapur, 270 kms from Hyderabad) into the Osmanabad road (you will find good signages at this point). Tuljapur is 30 kms on this road.

After Tuljapur, continue on the same road to Osmanabad (20 kms). From Osmanabad, it is around 190 kms via Jamkhed and Ashti. You can also go from Tuljapur via Barsi and Karmala (don't know the distance). I think the best thing for you would be to check out actual road conditions at Tuljapur before deciding on the route. The advantage of taking the Osmanabad route is that you will have NH211 part of the way.

your inputs are invaluable . I guess this takes care of my requirement. Just a final word, any inputs on the road conditions, what to miss and what not to miss? Thanks a bunch again.

NH9 (Hyderabad-Naldurg) is a very good road. After that, roads through Tuljapur, Osmanabad, Jamkhed and Ashti to Ahmedanagar, I am not sure of. But in normal course they should be good. There has been a lot of heavy rains, chances of some deterioration. From Ahmednagar, road is good to Shirdi.

I don't know how you are planning your drive, looks like you may have to stop over at Tuljapur or Osmanabad (depending on time spent at temple), but if you leave Hyderabad early enough and are a fast driver, you can definitely reach Shirdi by late evening.

I am planning to leave Hyd by 5am or 6am latest and would like to reach Shirdi latest by 8pm. This including a quick darshan at Tuljapur, i guess if i can keep up the pace, it would be quite possible.

Mobike, one of my friends went to Shirdi earlier this year, he mentioned he had problems filling fuel using credit card. You may want to enquire this specifically.

On NH9, from Solapur, turn off at Shetfal and Pandharpur is nearby. En route Pune, one can take a detour to visit Pandharpur.

Sreenivas, since my fuel range capacity is awesome ( approximately 720 kms), calculated based on 40 * 18kmpl, i am not worried at all.

i plan to start with a full tank in Hyderabad and then re-topup at Shirdi and/or, i have the luxury of picking which station from which to refuel . Thanks for the pointer, will make sure to carry enough cash, though i know only reliance does not take CC's.
