When you travel to India on a foreign passport you are required to provide biometrics which are then validated against you when you travel the next time. |
Any idea if the Indian embassy/consulate requires a attested bank statement for the preceeding 6 months for the visa related paperwork?
Thailand tried to implement a minimum bank balance requirement for visa issual. Needless to say there was a furore from Western countries and they had to cancel that requirement!

In my example, owing to OCI status, they may already have access to some of that data, perhaps? No bank statement info was explicitly requested.

No idea about India.
I am betting 1: The requirement was waived due to Euro GDPR privacy issues and 2: Most of the tourists coming live on debt and might not have the minimum bank limit.
OCI obviates the need for an Indian visa, no?
Non OCI or PIO card holders and other foreign nationals require a visa.
The basic premise is reciprocity. So just wondering if the GoI is reciprocating these measures imposed by mostly western countries?
The reason for this financial scrutiny in Thailand was to weed out the un-desirables as you know the demography of certain visitors and for what nefarious purposes!

I recently got the Schengen visa for myself and my wife. Applied through VFS France desk in Bangalore.
Specifically on the marriage certificate - We had carried just a xerox of our marriage certificate without any notary certification of the same.
On finances - I added our joint account info + my MF portfolio details for one year.
There were no questions and we got the visa issued (one year multiple entry) in 3 days (appointment on April 15, passport received back in VFS office on April 18, passport collected on April 19).
FYI - this is our second tourist trip to Schengen region.

I guess France is a safer bet in BLR with the Consulate being physically located here. How many days did you have to wait for the appointment itself, and when did you visit the Schengen region last?

I booked the appointment on March 29th and the appointment date was April 15th.
Last visit to Schengen region was in May 2018.

You need one for journalism or religious activities. You need special permission. No idea how that happens.
My folks are looking to visit Italy and 4 weeks have gone by since they applied, yet to hear back. What is the current wait time please ?
Hi guys a question. If a family is applying for schengen tourist visa, does only one person from the family need to take a vfs appointment?, or all family members have to take separate vfs appointments? The vfs website mentions one person from the family can take an appointment and rest can accompany. Any other organization, i would have taken their word. But this is Vfs, why would they want to loose out on the appointments fees of all other applicants? Would be really grateful for any guidance.

I have never taken appointment for family, however, I believe that they will take fees for all the members when you are there. They don't lose anything.

So are you saying taking one appointments works, but will have to pay the fees for all applicants when there, which is ok. What i want to confirm is that they wouldn’t reject a family applicant for not having sought an appointment individually.

Not applied in India. However, VFS at Dubai is single appointment and family members need to be added on the same appointment. Payment of all members has to be paid during application submission.

Received in 5 weeks.
The consulate processes prioritizes applications by travel date and not by date of application received. A friend submitted hers a week before we did and our travel dates were the same and both recd our visas on the same day.

You can take one appointment with the names of your family members added to the same appointment. While applying for the visa on the VFS website there is a provision to do this. Your visa fee will be calculated on the basis of the number of travellers. The appointment confirmation will also include the names and details of all the travellers.
