Of course Hotels are cheaper in Mysore. I recommend Dasprakash or Quality Inn which is pretty reasonable. Want something extravagant then you can stay at the Lalit Mahal Palace. The Mysore palace, zoo, fountains, dam, are all places of interest in mysore.

In bangy you have cubbon park (not worth the visit anymore), lalbaugh (same here i guess), but shopping areas will interest your wife while the pub's will keep you occupied. There are loads of pubs in bangy and you'll need a whole week to vist them all. lol:

Got lot of info regarding Bang/Mysore.

So finally my wife wins as she was the one who wanted to stay in Mysore.

So I will be staying in Mysore ....

Do I have to do advance booking of hotel or I can go there and then check in . Also how is the weather in August. Does it rain there at that time of the year.

advance booking of hotel is not required as it is not dasara time... you will get rooms in mysore all round the year except in October .. at present in mysore its raining but not very high... i think the same thing in august also..

Both the Lodges are in the center of Mysore city.
Around 100 Rooms with AC/NON AC, Bath tub facilities is there.

Usually the rate depends from season to season. But I can get nearly 250-300Rs/Room discount.
