Umpteen places where the tea estates are located.

1 - Drive from Kalpetta towards Vythiri and the 1st tea estate is at this place called Chundale. You dont have to deviate anywhere its enroute Vythiri.

2 - From Kalpetta drive to Meppadi and if you have time go towards Vaduvanchaal. Meppadi and beyond is really pictureseque.

If you decide to do the 2nd one, here is the route.

Drive from Kalpetta towards Vythiri and enroute you will find the fire-station towards your right hand side.
Its something like a "Y" intersection. Keep to your left and follow the road. Will take you straight to Meppadi.

Still Raining In Kerala!!!!

Heard from a friend yesterday night, it's still raining hard in Kerala. They say this has been one of the longest spells in the last few years. With the rains on hard, chances of relaying roads would be difficult?

The Govt. needs only an excue like this to leave the roads as it is.

Guess the Palakkad -Cochin section of NH-47 is still bad and how is it beyond Cochin? Cochin-Alepppey-Trivandrum?

Anybody recently done this section, please give your valuable inputs. Tnx.

Havea good time..you are lucky that you are taking your car..I was there the sametime last year..mind you..in a place like Kerala, you never know what to expect..We were strolling in a park around 12 noon and then suddenly someone tells us that there is a strike by 2 PM. Our trains were booked at 6 PM from Cochin I think and we had a horrendous time getting back to the city !!

I think its not the rains that you should be afraid of but the political 'climate' which is even more scary..if you ask me.

Gundulpet to Kerala border approx 50 kms is broken, but manageable if you drive carefully. rest of the rough patches are under 100 mts at a time.

You can use the car if you are a careful driver and drive at day time.
