Yes its possible to skip the attible toll to by taking the right turn below the attible flyover, the following road goes past the TVS factory and joins the Hosur town road

The attibele-rayakottai road is in a good condition, it does join the hosur-rayakottai road which goes all the way to palacode, from there you can join the NH near dharmapuri or can go to pennagaram-mecheri-mettur-CBE did this route recently to CBE and avoided all tolls :)

This is a very good option if the conditions are good and one wants to try interior roads. Main reason being it bypasses Hosur totally.

Yes it can be avoided. This toll is a pain on holidays. The toll comes after the Attibele flyover.
You need to go below the flyover and then take the SH.

You know what, we can also use this as a convinient way to bypass Hosur-Krishnagiri section.
Attibele-Kelamangalam-Rayakottai-Dharmapuri. And this section has to towns to get stuck in.
And on this route, one can easily do 70-90.

Also possible to further bypass the dharmapuri-thoppur section by going towards rayakottai- palacode-pennagaram-mecheri-mettur road, though this road does have a small few towns on the way you can have a good view of paddy fields all along

Sorry for the typo here. I meant, this route has NO big towns to go through.

Definitely possible. But some how I would prefer the 4-lane beyond Krishnagiri. Its much faster (even if it includes going through Salem). Unless off course one wants reach north CBE (eg Karamadai etc). Then definitely this route and via Sathy makes sense.

Else this combination of Hosur-Krishnagiri bypass and 4-lanes makes a good choice. You also get decent eating places till Salem. (A2B Thoppur, Salem GRT/Park etc).

Yep what you said is very valid when it comes to good places to eat the CBE route via Pennagaram and Mecheri gives you no options

Hi All,

This being my first post and I wanted to share my recent return drive experience to CBE.

Left my cousin's place at 6.30 am and was at Hotel Ramvilas in Sathyamangalam at 7.40 am. Left Sathy at 8.40 am after a leisurely breakfast and purchasing of some famous bananas and other items.

I did a round trip over the weekend, and both ways was thru the Kanakapura/C'H Nagara/Sathy route.

Normally, i eat breakfast at home and leave. This time around, my parents were coming with me as well and i had to start early morn from Coimbatore. My dad suggested the Annapurna (the one that is to your right, towards Sathy after you cross Ganapathy) hotel for breakfast, and that's when i remembered this post of yours.

What a breakfast it was at RamaVilas, Sathy :thumbs up. Simply delicious. We had our stomachs more than full when we exited. I must try this place for lunch sometimes. Am sure it will be great as well.

Was browsing my old pictures got the picture of Ramvilas in Sathyamangalam.
Nice place for tiffens do not know about lunch.

Was on a trip to home town(Erode) for 10 days and back.

Onward journey was till Coimbatore. This time though did not take the Chamarajnagar route as I was carrying some heavy electronics to be dropped off at Erode.

The 6 laning till Krishnagiri is about 60% complete and the completed sections are bliss!:) The road surface is so smooth and I felt the quality much better! (Somehow never liked the section from Krishnagiri-Salem since the time it is operational as I feel the quality leaves a lot to be desired).

The 4 laning from Chengapalli(before Avinashi) to CBE is also about 70% complete. Caution is much needed though for the number of diversions and the unexpected/unmarked humps right in the middle of the newly built over bridges. I've never seen such in my previous experiences of driving through 4-lane constructions anywhere else! These are definitely a bummer and you need to be extra careful when driving at night, which I did!

It takes about an hour to reach Chengapalli 4 lane from Peelamedu driving through all this road irregularities. Me too wondering what are they going to do with the concrete humps right in the middle of the bridge.

Dear TeamBHPians,

Please see the below links which shows the route from Edayarpalayam to Sarvanampatti avoiding the city traffic through Gandhipuram and Ganapathy. This route helps you hit reach NH209 if your starting from Vadavalli side or Edayarpalayam-Velandipalayam side or even Sai Baba colony.

Link 1: Edayarpalayam to Saravanampatti through KNG Pudur Pirivu, GN Mills crossing (on Coimbatore-Ooty road), Urumandam Palayam Railway Gate, Vellakinar Village, Kumaraguru College of Technology.

Folks, need some help for a friend who is traveling to Coimbatore tomorrow.
Plan is to start early from Bangalore around 5-6am, reach Coimbatore, check-in to hotel and post lunch couple of visits in Thondamuthur area (I think it is close to Marudhamalai route). Next day, he plans to proceed to Palakkad. Little confused on which area to look at for hotels, current options are:
1. Park on Avinashi Road - outskirts of the city very close to the Palakkad bypass
2. City Tower/Aswini Deluxe etc in Gandhipuram area OR Surya International (Race course Road)
3. Annapoorna in RS Puram - is this closer to Thondamuthur ?
4. Any other hotels closer to Thondamuthur ? not sure since this is mostly residential area with lots of open tracts of land

Any other suggestions ? Members familiar with Coimbatore please suggest/recommend.

Hosur -> Krishnagiri road has a few deviations. There are a couple of flyovers being built. So please watch-out for them. The roads tend to get a bit narrow near those places.

Yes, aware of this, thanks.
This is the first time they will be visiting someone staying at Thondamuthur, hence the questions (wanted suggestions on the hotel).

If your friend is travelling to Thondamuthur for few hours , suggest he stays at Annapoorna in RS Puram. If he wants to stay around Gandhipuram which will be centrally located - suggest he stays in Hotel Heritage Inn or Alankar Grande ( Both are very close to Gandhipuram ). PM me if you have any more queries.

Thanks. My friend decided on Annapoorna@RS Puram (DB Road). However, the surprise was that when he reached there found that they don't have any parking facility inside the campus :Shockked: (last I remember they had a basement parking but that was more than 10 yrs ago when I last stayed there!). Not wanting to risk parking his new car out on the street he checked in to another hotel nearby.
