Thanks

Yes, it goes via forest area. If you are looking at a scenic route, then you can consider this route. However, as mentioned by NPV there are no proper facilities so you will have to time it accordingly for breakfast/lunch stop. Or carry your food along with you.

You can see few pics here,

The A2B near Salem (at around 2Kms towards Coimbatore) was closed today. Not sure if its closed for any renovation or temporarily or permanently. Anyone aware of the reason?

By the way, its strange that this thread is not active these days :-)

Surprised actually considering its one of the newer ones.

I guess the KL thread is the be-all and end-all of all the KL roads!

I at least hoped to see quite many pictures of Cauvery in this thread in full roar. But none!

At what time did you reach the A2B ?

Is it the one at KPN Plaza attached to BP petrol bunk ?
KPN also has a small lodge next to the Polar bear ice cream outlet in same campus.

Few months ago, during one of our trips that side, they were open for business at 6:15am and I was surprised since many other outlets usually don't open until 6:30-6:45am which is why we usually stop at the Sree Saravana Bhavan near Vaigundam toll which is another 20+ km away and we can reach there around 7am.

Yes, the same one. It was around 7am and I saw it closed during my return as well. Maybe some renovation work or since there is another branch close by on the opposite side, they would have decided to close this one. Just my guess :).

The A2B attached to the KPN bunk has remained closed for the last couple of months at least. Maybe it's because there's another A2B close by, with a convenient opening in the median.

Hi Guys,

Planning for a trip to Coimbatore and i'm thinking of taking the below route while going to Coimbatore

Bangalore - Kanakapura – Kollegal – Germalam – Dhimbam – Sathyamangalam – Annur - Coimbatore

Please give your feedback and places for breakfast and lunch stops on this route.

Nothing on this road. You need to carry your own food. If you need good break points, please stick to regular 4-lane or the regular Kanakpura road via Chamarajanagar. Because then you at least get Nijaguna.

Ok, will consider the advise. However, other wise how is the route with respect to scenic and safety?

Its scenic no doubt, but is very desolate. When with family, I wont advise.

It is a scenic and nice route. Last time when we took this route, we stopped at sathyamangalam for breakfast. Once we packed our food for breakfast.

And better to cover the forest area under daylight.

Ok. Then you can stop while exiting bangalore or on the Kanakapura road. And consider Sathyamangalam for lunch.

Since you are planning to leave Bangalore around 6 am or 7 am, for breakfast you can stop over at MTR which is on the left side in a side road, just after crossing AOL campus that comes to your right. MTR opens at 8 am IIRC.

Location : https://goo.gl/maps/3kFq41ri3qr

For lunch, you can plan to stop over at Sathyamangalam.

If you are with family/ladies/elderly people, plan for restroom break at Nijaguna at chamrajnagar, because after MTR, there is not much decent place to stop.
