Hi All,
Planning a trip to coorg from 30th to 03-Oct. As I would be travelling from Chennai in a TN registered car, with the Bandh being planned on 29th due to Kaveri issue.

Would there be any spill over effect on 30th. Any past guidance's would help.

Spoke to the Hotel Manager he says there should not be any problem on 30th. But not feeling 100% confident to trust his word.

I understand why take such risk, need to replan the entire thing for different place which i want to avoid.:)

Actually it's a high risk considering the situation gets worsening day by day. May not be a one day threat at this point. Mysore and beyond are sensitive places(only during this crisis).

Would suggest to replan the trip to future, when the issue is tone down. If you still want to continue then recommend to take safety precautions including a dash cam mounted in the car.

Mysore and surrounding areas are full of TN\KL vehicles, it would be a hard task to catch hold of you specifically, so nothing to worry. I think most people are aware of why this issue is happening at the same time one political party is joining a larger coalition.

I was in a similar situation with a trip to Ooty starting today thru Wed this week. Once the bandh on Tue was announced, was nervous about the fallout on Wed, our return day.

Spoke with the resort manager, he was not expecting any issue after the bandh day itself, but a KA vehicle in TN with escalating emotions and possibly having to return to Bangalore via Mysore and environs, decided to postpone our trip yesterday.

See the point is that past guidance may not help much. Both govts are doing well to not let the situation go out of hand currently but I didn't want to run into any issue with family in tow and hence decided to move our trip.

I realise it doesn't help with your specific question, but thought to share a similar situation and what I did.

Would advise to postpone your trip since i understand that it is a leisure trip.

None of us can guarantee what will happen. Why take chances?

This Cauvery issue can escalate very quickly and one might get stuck unnecessarily. Once stuck there is very little one can do.

If i were you, i would have cancelled/postponed for the peace of mind and safety of the family.

The second best option is to take train to Mysore, Vande Bharat probably and rent a local cab for the three days. Shouldn't be an issue.

It's largely a matter of luck and circumstance, and there is a high level of risk involved. People might not remain calm when they see a (TN) registration during the protest. As others have recommended, it's advisable to reschedule your plans or, once you've arrived, park your vehicle inside the hotel and use local cabs for getting around. While Coorg is typically a tourist-friendly place, it's better to exercise caution to avoid any potential issues.
