Some regions around Jog falls have been completely cut off. Roads leading to these town are under water. If somebody is getting into interiors of Shimoga, Uttar Kannada districts, please verify with local contacts. As of now, NH 206 seems to be fine.

Ravi...thank you so much for your inputs...shall keep both the route options open... await your report on your return from your trip to your native place ..which is your native place by the way?
just a small clarification... the Agumbe ghat is an optional route from Jog to go to Mangalore right?

Hi Deepak,

I am still bangalore just checking status of road condition there. every day
people are saying either one or other route is cut off. Couple of days back shimoga and sagar road was cut off and today I heard road between haveri - hanagal cut off from varada river so may be road to sirsi is cut off as well so I decided to wait for a bit anyway I have still some work to get done in bangalore so may be this week end or early next week I will travel to places Sirsi/Kumta/Honavar/Ankoa where I have relatives spread over and I belong to those areas

I will update you about latest status as and when I get. Do plan to visit Jog falls its worth a visit this time even if it stops rains it won't disappoint you.

Nearby there is one bridge sort of thing called china gate or something like that which is nice as well where part of river flows and water comes on roads like flashes but thats risky as well please becarefull when you are these areas since too slippary.

Regards,

Ravi.

magiceye: yae you can connect to Mangalore via shimoga - thirthalli - Agumbe - kollur but now it would be lil dicy as some roads might be disconencted, but trust me thisd is a amazing route.

and please do this route only during the day, hardly any vehicles ply on these roads. and make sure you keep asking the locals about the roads ahead.

anyway i guess this is the fun of driving/riding choose your own way.

Wow Lohit....your pictures are awesome! If the road conditions are as good as in the pics... would be a great drive indeed!!! Took me back a long time - 25yrs back, to be precise, when I had gone riding round the country on my Yezdi. These scenes reminded me of stretches between Puttur (near Mangalore) to Coorg..!
Thanks mate! You have me hooked onto the Agumbe route!

rjstyle china gate although I never seen flashing water like this year what I saw in pictures, its between jog falls and linganmakki dam. The picture which you posted is bridge just before jog falls right ?

There is one road we need to take left turn from sagar-honnavar highway much before jog falls left turn.

Thats road goes to damm as well after small ghat section we need to left again to damm and right turn which goes via china gate and Jog falls.

lohithrao can you confirm If I am right else If you can please give direction to china gate or whatever its called because I can't remember the place names and direction much

Regards,

Ravi.

Thank you Team, This is right time to visit visit every spot in Jog I mean near damm, near that china gate/bridge carefull near falls because its too slippery.

Next week I am going to native place and plan to drive via Jog route since thats alone good route I guess.

In coming days my visiting places: Falls @Shivansamudram , Badra, Tunga , Linganmakki dams, Jog, Sharavati Kanive, Costal karnataka, Sirsi, Belgaum, Gokak Falls.

May be 2500km in the next 2 weeks! in my Petrol Innova.

Regards,

Ravi.
