Seems like there will be no sleeping at all. Try to avoid hard drinks at the party buddy. Gulp down some red bulls ... that should keep you awake .

@all - came back from party at 11 and fell asleep.. woke up at 5 am !!! (plan for a 3 am start down the drains) started at 6:15 ish, met with a 10 Km traffic jam rather truck jam near Kolaghat. Somehow managed to bypass it but lost a lot of time. Reached Bhubaneshwar at 12 and after a halt started again at 12:45. Reached Vizag at 6:50 and checked in at APTDC Lodge in Rushikonda. Will post all the details with pics, but am not sure whether I will be able to do it tonight.

Sumitro

Great drive, keep up the pace.

To avoid getting lost in Vijaywada, make sure you go all the way on NH5 till you reach the River Krishna bridge - turn right just before the bridge (don't cross it, that is NH5 towards Guntur/Chennai).

Great ! Good to know you had nice drive.
The trip to BBSR was FAAAST ! 80+ kmph average speed ! No wonder you got 11kmpl. Just vindicated my readings You must have been doing 140 most of the time ?

BBSR to Vizag at 67kmph average and 14kmpl also matches.

Will go see snaps now.

yup, 80+ was extremely good taking into account the 20 mins delay in the truck jam at kolaghat.. but that was possible only because of the new bypass at Kharagpur - kept going at 160-170 for the entire stretch till a place called Uttareshwar (if I am not mistaken).

That was a seriously fast drive man! Keeping it at 160-170 consistently... niiice! How did BlackPearl handle it? No niggles or issues hopefully.
Keep up the pace, but be safe! All the best, and keep us posted

Great going, good to see how beautiful the roads have become from our last visit there many years back.

Just FYI- I too have to do a 700 mile sojourn tomorrow with 7 people. Gosh I hate it. However, There is a 70 mile scenic mountain drive (with 9 point sightseeing) that we discovered to which we are going. Somehow we fixed this weekend to tackle it, but then, today it was found that I have to be back by Sunday morning.

This scenic drive has to be done in the late afternoonish - as the sun is too harsh till about 5 pm. So Starting 11am. But then long drives in India has its own charms.

wow! you have already posted as well. i thought you reached vizag late. i could not reach your cell inspite of so many attempts that i thought you are still on road somewhere. i sent you an sms in the evening around 4.30 or 5 i guess which i think you received around 10.30 at night.

so looking at all that i thought you probably reached vizag after 10pm. good to know that you were able to make it that fast. it was indeed very fast! almost 850+ kms in 12.5 hours is too good. be careful for the next leg now... roads are great but the traffic moving in the wrong directions will be a pain.
