1.Forest checkpost after Gundlupet, Karnataka side - timings are 6am-9pm, has this changed ? 2.Forest checkpost at Muthanga, Kerala side - any timings for this ? 3.How late can I start from Bangalore in the afternoon so I can cross the Forest check posts before closing time and possibly reach Kalpetta before 10pm? 4.Suggestions for Hotels at Kalpetta - decent, with car parking, nothing extravagant, will be with family. Woodlands, Issac Regency, any others ? |

1. No. 2. Not sure what you mean. Same timings as the above one, isn't it? 3. Bangalore to forest edge is about 240 km. You should plan based on the speed you can achieve - I think 5 hours is sufficient. 4. Calicut is 70 km further down the road and can be reached in about 1.5 hours from Kalpetta. I suggest you continue instead of breaking the journey. |

4. Issacs regency is in Sulthan Bathery I presume. If you are looking to stay at Bathery, near to Issacs on the opposite side of the road, there is a hotel- Green Palace residency. Had stayed there a few days ago. Neat budget hotel (double non ac rooms in the range of 1000-1100 with basement car parking. |

We still take the MC road till Changanassery nd then to Allepey via AC road in order to go to Kochi from Trivandrum. Is this still the best route or is the NH47 via Kollam better? |

Thanks. I would prefer to stay at Kalpetta so that I can reach Calicut faster in the morning. Yes, now that you mention I also remember Issac's at Bathery, stopped for lunch there once. Any other suggestions for Kalpetta ? |

There is now a road via Edappal-Chamravattom-Tirur-Parappanangadi-Chelari-Ramanattukara that is shorter by a few km, instead of the pure NH 17 route. |
