Route via Valparai is little longer and will involve jungle/ghat roads but more scenic. Does anyone have updates on road conditions.

I think the following is the best route.

Angamaly-Vadakkencherry-Meenakshipuram-Anaimalai-Sethumadai-Parambikulam
(You may to endure a bit of Kuthiran.)

Route Link

This is also faster compared to Valparai.

Friends, How is the road condition in the Aroor-Kollam stretch of National Hellway 544? Any potholes developed after the rain? Caution stretches? Iam driving with family tonight from Tcr to Kollam.

Newspaper reported the incident recurring at a particular stretch.

Again, in today's newspaper, I saw a front page report that police arrested a gang of 5 youths who stopped and stole a car from a passenger at Madharana halli in Gundalpet route. Gundalpet sub-inspector Lakshmikanth Talwar arrested these people at the end of a secret operation

Posting the report for your reference. I have never been in this route -- I go via Coimbatore to Kerala.

I somehow assumed that you were a Keralite and often travel in this route, because of the interest evinced. Sorry. My bad.

I don't think there is a serious problem. If you plan to take this route in the near future, why not travel together with friends in more than one car?

re: All Roads to Kerala

Did Cochin-Mannuthy-Palakkad-Coimbatore-Salem-Bangalore with a friend yesterday. Road from Mannuthy to Vadakkancherry and Walayar to L&T is in bad shape. As mentioned earlier in this thread, be careful on almost all flyovers near Avinashi area for uneven joints.

re: All Roads to Kerala

The elders in the family wanted to do the 'nalambalam' temple visit- Triprayar,Koodal Manikkam, Moozhikazham and Payammal temple.

If i am coming from Palghat, what is the proper sequence to visit all the temples?

EDIT: I googled and i could find that there is actually a traditional sequence to visit the temples. Since i cannot start early morning, i wish to visit all the 4 temples as quick as possible/ in the shortest route.

re: All Roads to Kerala

So this is my plan.

Vadakkencherry-Triprayar-Koodal Manikyam- Moozhikazham-Payammal temple, in that order.

Google maps gives me this: Vadakkencherry, Kerala to Triprayar, NH 66, Kerala - Google Maps

I am taking this trip this saturday. Waiting for opinions.

re: All Roads to Kerala

Hi All,
back from my weekend trip. Here is the status of the road conditions.
Bangalore to Dindigul great roads. Covered it in 4 hours. After Dindigul when you turn for Batalgundu that is where the road becomes bads after every few kms or so there is road work going on in patches which complete brings the speed to dead halt. This is on the entire stretch of Theni only from Kumily the roads improve. Lost lot of speed and time in this stretch due to bad roads and road work being carried out. After kumily roads are very good and no issues at all till Kumarakom.

Yes, anyone travelling that route would recommend the Madurai by Pass to Theni that would be a much better option and would take less time for sure.
Also i measured the distance from my place in HSR to Kumarakom it came up to 650 kms one way. The up down was over 1300kms. While going it took 12 hours, with 3 hours of breaks. While returning it took 11 hours.

Just got reports that in and around Thrissur & Guruvayur it is TOTAL, even private vehicles are off the roads and not taking risks.
