Both roads(212 & Nilambur) are in avg condition. With Nilambur route,if it rains real heavy then there is a possibility that the Nadugani ghats would face dislocation due to landslides. Moreover the roads on the nilambur route are quite narrow for my liking as opposed to NH212 which is slightly broader. However I have no update on the 212's present condition.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Hey folks!

Planning to drive from Thiruvalla to Tuticorin next week. This will be the first time I'll be driving down that route.

Google Maps gives me this route:
Chengannur - Adoor - Punalur - Tenkasi - Tirunelveli - Tuticorin.

Any inputs regarding road and traffic conditions?
Any better alternative?

Hi there, am planning a drive from coimbatore to athirapally via pollachi-valparai on 3rd and 4th Aug, can anyone confirm me if the road is OPEN for commute. I heard that there had been a landslide recently. Thanks in advance.

You can still go by car taking the excellent route of Perundurai-Kangayam-Palladam-Pollachi-Kollengode-Alathur-Pazhayannur-Wadakancheri-Thrissur-Chalakudy-Angamaly-Kochi.

Please note that this road has some bad patches between Sholayar and Athirapally. Last November it took me around 3 hours from Valparai - Athirapally with stops for sight seeing.

Thank you so much Kumar. But to my dismay, today's newspaper says that there are two gunmen roaming in Valparai, suspected to be naxal/maoists/animal poachers, and police are in search of the duo. Omg! God save us from them!

HVK Sir, Any idea about the condition, can we drive sedans easily...? I have to visit Cochin in this month and thinking of taking this route (if the condition is drivable). This will be a longer route, still I wanted to enjoy the sceneries and pay a visit to the Athirappalli falls if possible.

Thanks
Rajesh

I would be happily looking forward for your update. Also can you just inquire some informed locals whether the Valparai athirapally road is in good condition?

Re: All Roads to Kerala

I am planning a drive this weekend to 4 temples in Kerala. It consists of

1) Pollachi to Triprayar

a) Pollachi-Mannuthy-Cherpu-Triprayar(http://goo.gl/maps/iXW8u) OR
b) Pollachi-Alathur-Chelakkara-Thrissur-NH17-Triprayar.

Q1: Which among them is suggested for a early morning start(4-5AM)?

2) Triprayar to Koodalmanikyam : http://goo.gl/maps/kiuwl

3) Koodalmanikam to Moozhikulam : http://goo.gl/maps/T6Xh2.

4) Moozhikulam to Payammal temple: http://goo.gl/maps/0FeI1

In all the 2, 3, 4 sections, can i take the first suggestion offered by google maps?

It is possible to drive any type of car. I had driven my Alto, fellow TBHPian NPV had driven his Dzire. However should say it is a time consuming route to EKM. Yes, the scenery is great.
