Heard that Marthandavarma bridge on NH544 at Aluva is closed for traffic.

Kuthiran is closed. Will take days to clear the debris.

In Palakkad district Pattambi bridge over Bharatapuzha is closed and a part of it has been damaged. Almost all the interior roads in the district are inundated. Better avoid travel.

Gayatri river is in spate. The view from NH544 on kuzhalmannam Alathur stretch

How about taking Palakkad-Cherpulassery-Koppam-Valanchery-Kozhikode

I think the second route passes through Pattambi and there could be water logging there.

Vehicles, except for emergency purposes were not allowed to ply through Puliyarai check post at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border due to landslides in Kollam road.

Have a function at Guruvayoor. Will be travelling from Blr saturday morning. I understand most roads are flooded or closed. Up to Alathur the NH seems to be fine as reported by a colleague who travelled yesterday. Was thinking of taking this route via Wadakancherry. Could bhpians who are familiar with the attached route give inputs and suggestions. Will appreciate your assistance.

Presently, the situation is bad with water level increasing and shutters opening further. Roads are all closed in and around Thrissur and my family is currently staying in Thrissur (they were driving from Cochin to Blore). Suggest you to wait till the last moment before starting he trip.

Water level in and around Cochin is also increasing, most affected being Aluva, Kalady, Edappally, Elamakkara, Chittoor etc.

My friend, who is a resident, sent me a video today. Wadakkancherry town's main road appears ankle deep in water. Vehicles are passing, but don't know how the situation will evolve over the next couple of days.

Stay put. Don't venture into Kerala. The whole place is flooded. Even if you by chance find roads that aren't waterlogged, so would hundreds of other drivers. Roads are either knee-deep in water or with jams taking hours to clear. With Kuthiran off limits for the next several days, all these alternate routes will be heavy on traffic.

There are folks in Palakkad town. Thinking of getting them to Banglore. Is the Palakad-Coimbatore - Salem route open? Heard there's been heavy rain around Coimbatore Metupalaya areas.

I haven't heard of any NH road closure between Bangalore-Salem-Coimbatore-Palakkad. But I think you should decide and start soon before it gets any worser there.

NH 544 via Erode, Salem is fine. Not sure of condition within Palakkad town.

There is no issue with Coimbatore - Salem - Bangalore road. I am not sure about Palakkad - Coimbatore

Palakkad Coimbatore highway is fine. Entire Palakkad city in under knee deep water. Worst affected areas in town are Kalpathy, Calicut bypass, Chandranagar, stadium bus stand, Shakuntala junction, Olavakkode railway station area, puthur.

Between the two I would prefer Mundur Cherpulassery Perintalmanna route. No road section is only 6kms, whereas the pain in NH starts just after Mundur and extends all the way beyond Mannarkad

Btw, Suhas - how did you get into Pattambi yesterday?
