Re: All Roads to Kerala

Has anyone crossed the border by walk ?

One of my colleague is coming till Walayar, cross the border without "visa" (e-pass ) and board a bus to Coimbatore.

Are they asking e-pass for people who are walking and crossing the border? Please let me know if anyone has observed / encountered this experience.

I have not crossed the border by walk or by bus. But let me list my observations below.

Depends on the time of day. Like i said in earlier posts, there are no cops stopping during the early mornings but the frequency of buses at that time also might be low.

I see quite a lot of people waiting at the bus bay (The service road towards Kerala side where all buses are stopped) every evening.

The police Checkpost is on the opposite side of where the bus boarding is happening. I do see police crossing over the bus bay side during my commute. Also the bus has to mandatorily cross the police checkpost and the other checkpost while heading towards Coimbatore. Should we leave the probability of checking to a chance is purely a personal choice.

If your friend does have a smartphone and an ID proof image file less than 500Kb i would suggest him not to go through this game of chance and take an E-Pass. It is not very time consuming.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

I just entered TN via Walayar, there are checks for TN e pass by TN cops and KL vehicles are being stopped. Mine is a KL vehicle and I have the pass and it was a smooth entry. Any update on the scene at attibele as I'm heading to bangalore. Is RT PCR certificate being asked there?Would be helpful if someone can update as I'm not carrying it. Thank you

As per news on news paper, KA authorities have kept some checks at Attibelle from today onwards... But don't know the ground reality.

I bypassed Attibele by taking a deviation at Hosur and entered KA at Sarjapur side. There weren't any checks.

So that means if you have to travel to Kerala and come back to Karnataka, you have to do the test twice!!

No mention of this order in any of the official communication channels of Kerala Government. No other media house reports this. Need to check the authenticity of this report. Also, with elections next week, I doubt they would do this as this will dissuade residents from outside states who still are on the voters list in Kerala to come and vote here.

It doesn't say one needs an RT-PCR report to enter Kerala, but those visiting should undergo an RT-PCR test within 14 days of entering the state, even though an Antigen test taken within the period gives a covid negative result.

Quote:
Those with international and inter-state travel history have to undergo RT-PCR test within 14 days of arrival even if they turn negative in antigen tests. Those in the contact list of travellers also have to undergo RT-PCR test if they develop symptoms, said a health official. “People with influenza like illness and severe acute respiratory infections have to undergo RT-PCR test even if they test negative in antigen test. As per the new guidelines, RT-PCR will be widely used to improve the testing and contain the spread,” the official said
However, on checking with a Health Inspector, no such notification has been issued by the state health department.

As an additional note, it's better to verify such news with the govt sources rather than blindly trust the media. Many important notifications such as updated rules are posted by the Govt's handles in social media as well as in the GoK Direct App.
