Have a noob query. Is the BCE a continuation of STRR? That's what is seen as maps.

STRR is a ring around Bangalore. Just that a small section is STRR is common to Bangalore Chennai Expressway. You can see in maps that a few km down south of the Hoskote inter-change, STRR branches of the Expressway towards Hosur.

Another reminder that the new road may not be safe especially during evenings, nights and early morning (I would say use only during daylight).
One needs to be extra careful till the entire stretch with tolls opens up, too many things can get you by surprise now - 2 wheelers, Cars on the wrong side, overspeeding, etc.

An accident on Sunday night near KGF/Bangarpet on the expressway.

Does anyone know what is the condition of STRR section past E Way turn off towards Hosur? Or Chika Tirupati?
I know the road work is not done that side, however is it possible to drive through the mud road till near to Chikka Tirupati?

As far as I remember, the guard rails on the Expressway block the entry to the STRR down ramps towards Hosur, this is within 5-6 Km from Hoskote.
In fact, if I remember correctly, they haven’t even asphalted those ramps, I could be wrong though.

Wondering how they will implement this.
At the Hoskote entry ramps there is no toll so no NHAI personnel. First toll is near Malur and there wasn’t a single soul when I drive 2 weeks ago. Next toll is at Sundarapalya and that plaza is after one takes the down ramp.

No chance of driving through. Still lots of work pending and few patches have land acquisition pending it would seem like as earthwork not done yet. The main hurdle, the RoB works could take any amount of time, if looking at it typically. Optimistically, hope under 6 months.

So I have been able to take BCE on Saturday morning from Hoskote interchange till KGF exit. I took route as Sarjapur road --> ORR --> KR Puram --> Hoskote interchange

This is probably the first time in India that I was able to set cruise control at 118 and cruise for more than 15-20 min at a stretch on a smooth Tarmac. The experience was really good and probably will last only a few weeks / months till traffic starts and it becomes another NICE road with trucks overtaking each other. Other roads I have driven on such as Bangalore Mysore highway etc. have speed limit of 100 or Samruddhi E way on which you can do 120, but it is concrete and not so smooth as BCE

I heard somewhere that stretch upto Palamaner / Chittoor is likely to open in next 3-4 months, post which this road should see significant traffic

Another Knee Jerk reaction and statement from our authorities. There is no service road through the entire stretch, if they have to implement this, they need to first make service roads. There are lot of points where traffic can enter STRR, they need to then close them. The stretch from Dobasept to Devanahalli is not even cordoned.

The new buzz word in India is "Ban", let's not find a solution let's just "Ban"

Has anyone done an end to end drive from Bangalore to Chennai using this expressway? If so, can you please share what's the overall time spent with time break-up on this expressway and the rest of the route? How's the experience as compared to doing the same via the existing route (via Hoskote - Chitoor).

I have a planned trip in March end; wondering if it is worth to try this route.

Only one third of the expressway is open to public. Rest not completed yet.

Thank you #CaptainObvious :D I'm well aware of that.

My query (seems it wasn't clear) was if anyone has done an end to end trip using the expressway till Sundarapalya; and then via existing highways post that. And how's the experience been as compared to doing it the usual route via Kolar - Mulgabal.

Thanks. My intention was to take the NE via OMR and then on the return, if it was feasible to take the exit where NE mergers with STRR and head towards general direction of Chikka Tirupati in what ever dirt road / under progress section its possible and then cut across to any village road to join near Sarjapur town. This way I was hoping to skip the weekend traffic around KR Puram.

For now you can drive from Hoskote to Sundarapalya which is about 71km, and then exit (toll plaza is after you take the down ramp).
If you don’t take this exit, you can drive another 20km where the road ends in a wall!

Two weeks ago, I drove till Sundarapalya, exited and took Bethamangala road to head back towards Kolar for breakfast and then headed back to Bangalore via the Old madras road (NH 75).
