| Bangalore to Delhi via Western Coast and Rajasthan During Monsoon Hi all, I am planning a road trip in 2 weeks (Mid of June) Bangalore to Delhi via Western Coast, covering Goa, Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, Aurangabad, Udaipur, Jaipur. This is going to be a leisure trip for 2 of us, which we will be covering in ~10 days. I have broken the route into 6 major drives: 1. Bangalore - Goa - 2 nights stay 2. Goa - Ratnagiri - 1 night stay 3. Ratnagiri - Mahabaleshwar - 1 night stay 4. Mahabaleshwar - Aurangabad - 2 night stay 5. Aurangabad - Udaipur - 2 night stay 6. Udaipur - Delhi (short diversion via Jaipur ) - Last leg to home I would like to get the group's opinion on the routes that I have put down below. My main idea is to travel with my mother (50+) and and do as much sight seeing as possible, while ensuring that we do not end up with any hiking or walking more than 8 km in a day. 1. Bangalore - Goa - 2 nights stay 2. Goa - Ratnagiri - 1 night stay 3. Ratnagiri - Mahabaleshwar - 1 night stay 4. Mahabaleshwar - Aurangabad - 2 night stay 5. Aurangabad - Udaipur - 2 night stay 6. Udaipur - Delhi (short diversion via Jaipur ) - Last leg to home 1. Bangalore - Goa - 2 nights stay - 11 hours drive Initially thought I would stay in South Goa for two nights but then I realised that due to monsoon it will be quite empty and it might be better to just stay in the northern part of Goa and visit the northern beaches. Reason being my mother typically likes lively areas and South Goa might not offer that during this season, even though South Goa is my favorite. I have decided to stay in the Siolim area and I'm planning to visit Morjim, Ashwem and Anjuna side on the second day. ![]() Google Maps is showing the route via Belgavi, whereas i have always gone via Hubballi-Ponda-Goa. Has something changed over here, any recent travelers to throw some light? 2. Goa - Ratnagiri - 1 night stay - 5 hrs drive My main purpose here is to cover the Konkan roads, I am hoping it would be beautiful! Are Ware breach road is what I am interested in, but I would also want to visit a Mango farm, if time permits, any suggestions? ![]() https://maps.app.goo.gl/FpXmiN1EaqFnUMim8 - Route Google is shown at the moment, but I intend to take the route marked in RED. 3. Ratnagiri - Mahabaleshwar - 1 night stay Staying near Panchgani actually, and for a single day. I plan to visit the Mapro farm and possibly the Mahabaleshwartemple if it comes on the way. What else could be done here? ![]() 4. Mahabaleshwar - Aurangabad - 2 night stay - 5 hrs drive I intend to reach Aurangabad by evening and have a non happening night. Next day I will visit Ellora Caves, the main attention. But I am not sure how much time does it require and whether it makes sense to try covering Ajanta also (I have read that both require 5 hours atleast to properly visit, and should not be clubbed together). 5. Aurangabad - Udaipur - 2 night stay - 14 hrs drive This is the longest stretch of the trip and would require 14 hours of drive time. Wondering if I should break it, and if yes, where can i stay, I don't see a lot of interesting destinations on this route. ![]() 6. Udaipur - Delhi (short diversion via Jaipur ) - Last leg to home - 11 hrs drive This is sorted. Few key details: 1. I will be driving Verna. 2. I will be the only driver throughout. 3. I have covered Delhi/Bangalore route multiple times via Nagpur, but a different car. 4. I have driven on occasions for 16 hours a day (excluding the breaks). What I am looking from the community: 1. Any alterations to the routes for 1-5 section of the road trip. 2. Any road conditions that I shall be aware. 3. Any food recommendations (Veg/Non Veg both ok). 4. Any additional preparations for the monsoon travel (this route has multiple Red Alert Zones and I have heard but not experienced the bad performance of LED lights in rain in Verna) Last edited by BudgetFailure : 1st June 2025 at 17:24. |
