How long does it take between Balgaum and Mapusa, also Baga and also Panjim?

How is the traffic condition beween Belgaum and Mapusa, also Baga and also Panjim?

Belgaum to Baga should take around 4 hrs.

Your average speed till you descend the ghats would be 30/35 kmph, not because of bad roads, but due to the curves and the traffic on these curves. Even if you get an opportunity, I would suggest sticking to not more than 45 kmph. I remember the Pertol Pump attendant besides Sankam Residency cautioning me on the curves that this section has. From 2-wheelers to trucks, Chorla route will throw everything at you (and this is not a negative remark about this route)

Once you pay the toll (250/-) for entering Goa, your avg speed will come down to 30 kmph. Roads across Goa are narrow, barring few in Panaji.

Please note that the traffic and average speed conditions will be on the better side if you were to enter Goa after 8pm, but then its always better to negotiate the ghats before dusk (there is thick forest on either side of the road, so you don't expect to see a vehicle's light after dusk), both in terms of safety as well as the time you get to admire nature.

Are there any landmarks / sign boards for the deviation from NH4 to NH63 (Hubli -Ankola - Karwar) near Hubli?
As per google maps the deviation is somewhere near Hubli Disneyland Amusement Park.

When approaching the toll plaza outside Hubli town on NH 4 there is signage for Karwar and you can confirm with the toll attendants as well. You should tell them you're headed to Karwar since the toll amount is different for this and if going inside Hubli town.
After this you will need to turn towards left and after just after a few metres you will encounter another toll booth where you just show the toll receipt and need not pay anything. This is NH63.
This stretch finally ends at NH 17 where you turn left for Ankola and right for Karwar/Goa.

Yes. Have a look at the attached image.

That is not a deviation from NH4 to NH63 for Karwar (refer to the image posted by you about the amusement park). That is the start of the NH4 bye-pass for Hubli-Dharwad section (the leftish one). The straightish road goes into the city.

Keep on the bye-pass aka GQ aka NH4, pay the toll at Gabbut toll (read up earlier posts about what to say and how much to pay at the toll as it is cheaper for Karwar than for those headed to Belgaum) for another 2 km and take the next exit to the left side and turn left at the dead end of the T Junction to be on way to Karwar.
Not sure about the latest but that park was closed down in 2009 when the giant wheel collapsed.

I am planning a trip to Goa this weekend. Travelling with some relatives in two vehicles:
Ertiga - 6 adults, 2 kids
Duster - 4 adults, 2 kids, luggage

Please suggest which one is a better route:

Which part of Goa ?
If South Goa then the Karwar route is the better option. You can see last couple of pages with several updates for the Karwar and Chorla routes.

North Goa - Calangute. The Molem->Ponda route seems shorter in google maps.

Take the route via Belgaum/Jambotti/Chorla. Its hardly 20km more I think. But the road is much better.

@Saftey is Param - Please share your travelogue. How was the road condition when you traveled on the Belgaum->Chorla route?

Also, when starting from Marathalli in Bangalore, is it better to go via Yeshwantpur or take the NICE road?

Yes thats the route I meant. (Via Chorla)

Do the following :

- Take ORR all the way till Jayadeva
- Take Bannergatta road
- Turn to ORR again and drive all the way till Tumkur road.
- It ends right where the elevated toll road starts.

Thanks to construction around IISc, I am not sure if you can find your way. If you know how to reach Yashwantpur (in other words if you know how to go around IISc), take that option. Thats the fastest. Early morning it works. Drive through the city. I am not sure about the traffic on the ORR to the other side of Hebbal.

Good option now that the underpass/overbridge work for ORR is complete at Nayandahalli junction :thumbs up

If starting very early in the morning, is this a good option ?
Old airport Road, Richmond Road, Double Road, Jayanagar/JP Nagar 24th Main (Raghavendra Swamy Math) and continue till ORR at Puttenhalli junction and turn right and proceed on same route mentioned by you ? That way you can avoid ORR upto Jayadeva + Bannerghatta Road. May not give much gain in terms of time taken though.

Since its early morning, I thought ORR would be an easy one way drive all the way. Hence I suggested. Basically anything which takes one to ORR on the south side.
