Hi All,
Did a Bangalore-Goa-Bangalore trip and just got back yesterday. Onward was 17th and return 21st. We were staying at Rajbaga so took the Tadas-Kalghatgi-Ankola route. Onward till the turn-off to Tadas is smooth sailing with some randomly placed potholes around the Tumkur area. The section after Yellapur is pretty irritating as tarmac is broken at a lot of places and you really cannot enjoy the surroundings much. Having said that the road is wide enough to be able to go around the big patches. The ghat section was bad in a lot of patches, but again could drive around most of them.
On the return there are 2 major deviations before Davangere where we were delayed by around 10-15 mins. After that its pretty smooth sailing. Was surprised to see the lack of traffic in Nelamangala! All in all took 9.5 hrs to and fro.
Signing off with a pic of my XL6 resting after the drive.
Hello All,
Thanks a lot for the updates.
The default route that shows up is -
https://goo.gl/maps/MS4zgkKzxhoHQ8bN9
Bangalore > Nelamangala > Tumakuru > Sira > Hiriyur > Chitradurga > Davangere > Ranebennur > Haveri > Shiggaon > Dharward > Alnavar > Ramnagar > Mollem > Ponda > Panaji
Is this fine? Any changes to be factored in?
Have one more important question on the COVID rules,
Adults - Vaccination Status is enough? For Kids - what is needed? And are they checking them for young kids?
Any good list of mustn't miss restaurants along this route?
Thanks a lot.

Bangalore > Nelamangala > Tumakuru > Sira > Hiriyur > Chitradurga > Davangere > Ranebennur > Haveri > Shiggaon > Dharward > Alnavar > Ramnagar > Tinai Ghat > Anmod Checkpost > Mollem > Ponda > Panaji |
Remember the turn off for Tinai after Ramnagar and then join back the main highway back again at Anmod checkpost.
Note: Please read posts referred to in the last 2 pages.
These are updates from as less as a week back and I hope that should help you?

Vaccination certificate for adults will do. They do not ask for vaccination or RTPCR for kids though.
Returned yesterday from South Goa via tinai/ramnagar route recommend by @paragchania, left at 5.30am entered BLR at 2PM, road conditions are mostly excellent.
In Goa one has to watch out for herds of cows sitting on roads at night, don't get tempted to speed on them nice goa roads :) The cows show up abruptly
Thanks a lot @paragsachania
What is interesting is google maps is by default showing this route.

Any recommendations on restaurants that we shouldn't miss along the way?
Thanks again.

given the dynamic routing (+risk of going offline in case of no network), it's better to save the waypoints, else google will change the route as you are driving. Seen that on the way in from BLR to South Goa 2 weeks ago.
Also there are spots where google maps did not have latest route information e.g. latest bypass/overbridges which are opened - google kept asking to exit and take the service route.
Our family is flying to Goa next week. The Indigo site says adults who have been fully vaccinated are fine but kids ABOVE 2 need RTPCR test. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the tip.
Have added few points that will force the maps through the recommended Tinai Ghat road -

Yes it is required as per the state government rules.

Went through that but there is no mention of age exemption for travelers from KA which probable means all ages, which is difficult. There is for travelers from KL where <2 years is exempted from testing.
The rule is the same for passengers from all states as per my understanding.
Less than 2 years old's, need not go though any test.
Planning a trip to North Goa, specifically Mandrem, on diwali weekend. Does anyone have any update on chorla ghat condition? Or better to stick to Ramnagar-Tinai-Anmod-Ponda-Panaji-Mandrem?

For Chorla, you can read updates on
this thread.
A friend will be driving to Goa from Bengaluru during this weekend. Adults are fully vaccinated. He is curious to know if he needs to arrange RT-PCR test report for his two kids. Please share recent experiences.
