re: Bangalore - Goa : Route Queries

I will be driving to South Goa (Varca) next week and drive a low GC car. Would you recommend Anmod (BLR-Dharwad-Ramnagar-Mollem-Varca)? I still have to figure out Mollem to Varca route. I don't want to do the usual hubli-ankola-varca.

Couple of years ago, I did Amboli and I didn't regret it at all.

Looking for your inputs.

Thanks in advance

We drove on this road two weeks back. Fabulous toll road from Dharwad to Ramnagar and Anmod. Few rough patches at Anmod Ghat at border but easily manageable. Stop for enjoying some beautiful vistas. Look at the picture below. From Anmod to Mollem excellent. From Mollem to varca, the raods are excellent in Goa. Dont have to worry.

You can take the Jog Falls route, I took the same to Varca couple of weeks back. Roads are all pristine till Goa, not a single pothole or broken road - seriously!
Btw, just off topic - where are you staying in Varca?

The reason I asked was I stayed at Club Mahindra, and just wanted to check if you too are staying there .

re: Bangalore - Goa : Route Queries

While taking the Bangalore -Goa via Chorla route, is it better to take Dharwad-Alnawar-Khanapur-Jamboti or Dharwad-Ramnagar-Khanapur-Jamboti?

How are these roads off late?

thanks

The Khanapur-Jamboti may not be in good shape. Drove last March and was partially under repairs. Not sure is the whole stretch is ready now. Else, the Dharwad Ramnagar Khanapur is super good.

For Jog,nothing to beat the KSTDC Mayura Gerusoppa.Dont stay at Tunga block which is a disappointment.Stay at the Sharavathi blocks which is by far the best .http://www.karnatakaholidays.net/kar...s_jogfalls.htm
How is the food at KSTDC Mayura Gerusoppa, i believe there is no restaurant and a small canteen caters to the hungry travelers. Rooms are available in the Sharavathi block, i reach on 29 Aug by 4 in the evening and leave by 1000 next morning.

re: Bangalore - Goa : Route Queries

I am traveling to Goa next month and the destination is Colva. Google maps shows this to be the best route, can the experts please confirm?

Also, any feedback about this place if anyone has stayed here.

Food is just OK, not many options. Mainly you get a fixed menu veg thali and other options include idli/bread omlette. That's it!
Plus you won't get anything post 8.30PM, so plan your dinner accordingly!

Yes. You can go via Anmod. It will take 8 hours of comfortable drive with breakfast break. Leave early at least by 5.30 to beat traffic and toll queues between Bangalore and Tumkur. On return come via Sawantwadi - Amboli - Belgaum. Beautiful drive under canopy of waterfalls. If you need help call me 98450 44486
